Clarification on why there is no/will never be crossplay between mobile and pc

Is it just a monetary decision, are there other priorities, or is there just another reason altogether?

While it may be obvious that I personally would have liked to have cross-play at some point, the aim of this thread is simply to get a concrete answer as to why this feature is/won't be added, not to nag about it not being added. Devs being in control of their own game is completely fine in my eyes.
