during my last game, suddenly in the middle of the second half, the game substitutes me for only two players .... why ???

Have you configured 'Match Plans' at any point, perhaps via the pre-match briefing?

It's not a bug. Your assistant manager is subbing players to compliment your match plan...

IE your match plan maybe to go attacking if losing, so your Assistant will maybe sacrifice a defender for an attacking player so he can play a more attacking formation.

I turn off match plans as I'd rather control these things myself

Don't use match plans. They are an option for more automatisation. You don't need them.
