Hahaha,, you are cruel just like AI
Which is also the reason why the game may never see too tactically clever AI. Players would stop playing. The only reason at all the AI at all is capable of doing this is that, like a real manager, it doesn't care about shots. It cares about the goals. Approximately 0.00001% of FM's player base even tries to play defensive / counter attacking football, let alone changes things within the match if things aren't going to plan. I can just see Pep et all logging on to Whoscored, check the shot counts and conclude, yup, played some pretty good footie there...
At the current level, AI does this a) too ofently, so statistically matches will far too often be one sided affairs. You know, if teams play defensive football, they are more focused ond efending, as opposed to getting shots off. And b) in generic ways. It doesn't specifically plug the zone of the pitch it's attacked through. If it would.. https://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/116071/Analysis_Game_AI__Our_Cheatin_Hearts.php.
Then stop man marking the strikers .
Human player premium shows the AI can definitely identify the human outside the ME, like most games this is presumably because programming a challenging AI is notoriously difficult.
It would be interesting to know why the ME is different? Is the AI better in this area?
The AI still has an edge over virtually anybody who manages solely by shot counts and/or possession on a spreadsheet come the final whistle blown, as such stats at the end of a game virtually tell naught. Neither in-game, nor in football. And as long as that "cheating AI" suspicious exists, the devs won't ramp up the AI, as that suspicous would rise some seriously more, sigh. Every single time the AI does something the player is uncapable of, it's AI cheating, no question asked. Distracting from the game's plenty AI issues over and over again.
