Won't work in offline mode

I have started the game many times in online mode but everytime I go to use it in offline mode it won't work. Example started the game at home on online mode, played for a while, saved then turned off the game and shut laptop down. Turned laptop back on for my 11 hour flight (With no internet) and it wouldn't let me play FM19 as I need to start it in online mode for the first time. Safe to say I was very annoyed I had to find other entertainment for my flight!!! Am I missing something??

Yup, can confirm this. I have no problem with every FM from past years playing offline. As I travel a lot, it would be nice if SI, at the very least respond to this thread

Make sure Steam is switched to Offline. I have it switched to offline as standard, whenever I launch FM I get a window asking whether to launch in Offline or Online mode.

You will need to be online to be able to switch modes, so it is a case of remembering to do it when you shut down. As I said, my 'default;' state is Steam in Offline mode.

I rarely ever play Online Mode, only going online with it if there is an update.

EDIT: Not an SI guy, just a regular player like yourselves.

Thanks for the replies, looks like I will have to be in offline mode most of the time which is a ridiculous fix but has to be done I guess, should be someway around this, the amount of times now I've not been able to play this game I have paid good money for because I don't have an internet connection is awful!!!

I guess it should work both ways.... but I think it is a Steam thing rather than SI/FM thing.
As I said, I have always left Steam in Offline mode, and can play absolutely anywhere. The only time I ever switch to Online mode is for updates and the like, and I am usually at home to do that.
I guess, if Steam is Online, and you launch FM with no connection, there should be an option to 'Play in Offline Mode' like you get the other way around.

Yeah I guessed it was a steam issue so probably won't be getting fixed anytime soon, just totally disagree in general that steam needs to be running for FM to work, guess I just remember the good old days when you just put a disc that you had bought into a pc/laptop and it worked. Cheers
