Back to square 1 - save files disappeared
So I launch FM2019 again tonight after leaving it alone for a while. I sit through the endless credit / promotional screens at the start - in total silence, of course because licencing an opening theme is too much trouble and cost for a AAA game. Hint: I really couldn't care less who has licenced what logos to the game. I especially don't care when I need to see it in two languages. And I triple don't care if I'm just sitting there in interminable silence rather than having something mood-setting like, y'know, pretty much every other game since the dawn of time has had.

Then I suddenly end up with a manager who looks pretty much exactly NOT like the one that I had designed. The one who looks pretty much nothing like me either, unlike the situation in FM2018, but, y'know, that's to be expected when every option in FM2019 seems to make the manager look like a slightly different form of space alien.

So... where IS my manager? Where is all of the preparation work that I've done in the game? Who knows? Poof, no save files for no apparent reason except, possibly, an update.

And the thing that makes me laugh is when I'm in Steam, and the banner headline says "Recommend this to your friends". No thanks, I'd rather keep them.

Sounds like your save game files have lost their file path - have you tried reading and following this from our FAQ? - https://community.sigames.com/faq/football-manager-2019/183_technical-support/186_pc/cant-load-save-game-as-theres-no-fm-filepath-being-created-r688/

No, that wasn't it. I searched the entire PC for any files with an .fm extension. They were being saved into the Documents folder in OneDrive for some reason. (I had not changed or in any way altered the save path, if that's even possible. There's no particular reason why I'd want them on OneDrive. There's no reason I don't want them there either; I just left the defaults for that sort of thing alone.)

I was able to load the last game from there. Why they were showing up in the ghostly silence of the home screen before, but weren't yesterday... that I have no idea about, but I still suspect an update is involved.

You can change the default folder location as shown here - https://community.sigames.com/faq/football-manager-2019/180_how-to/181_pc/how-to-change-the-sports-interactive-folder-location-r635/

Not sure why it's saved to OneDrive - may be something to do with how your system is set up as it should save to your user folder by default. Glad you've been able to figure this one out.
