Football Manager 2020 - Out November 2019
London, England – 27 August 2019

Football is a game of opinions. From team selection to transfers and tactics, everyone has their own ideas on how to get results on the pitch. Sports Interactive™ and SEGA® are giving would-be managers the chance to prove that their opinion means more than most when Football Manager 2020 releases in November.

FM20 will give players the chance to call the shots at their favourite club as they take control of their team’s destiny and make all the decisions that a real manager does as they develop their team and attempt to deliver a sustained level of success.

We have today released the first trailer for the game that should whet the appetite ahead of the game’s key feature announcements, the first details of which will be revealed in mid-September through the Football Manager website[www.footballmanager.com] and via the official FM social media channels (including Twitter, Facebook[facebook.com], Instagram[www.instagram.com] and YouTube).

But even though we aren’t talking about new game features today, we do have other things to talk about which you can see below.

Football Manager 2020 is the follow up to the record-breaking Football Manager 2019, which is the fastest selling, best-selling, and most played version of the series to date across all of its release platforms. Nine months after its release, more than 60% of the people who have bought the PC/Mac game in its lifetime are still playing it each month.

This year also marks the first time in the long-running series’ history that Football Manager will be available as a launch title on a new platform as Football Manager 2020 is set to make its debut on Google’s Stadia and will be the fastest way to experience Football Manager.

Miles Jacobson, Studio Director of Sports Interactive, says “Football Manager on Stadia includes technology that is only available on that platform, utilising the power of the cloud and Google’s data centres to ensure that more matches can be processed in parallel utilising spare bandwidth across the whole system – this means you can have more leagues loaded into your save, or just go for a faster experience by keeping the amount of leagues the same, but having the matches process quicker than you can on any other platform.”

From today until launch, fans who pre-purchase Football Manager 2020 (for PC and Mac), from a SEGA approved digital retailer* (or pre-order from a participating physical retailer) will receive a 10% discount. Additionally, those who pre-purchase through a SEGA approved digital retailer will be able to get their managerial careers underway early through a fully-playable Beta version, which will be available roughly two weeks prior to the official street date (single player careers started in the Beta can be carried across to the full game). The pre-release Beta will not be available on Stadia.

Football Manager 2020 (for PC, Mac and Stadia), Football Manager 2020 Touch (for PC, Mac, iOS and Android) and Football Manager 2020 Mobile (for iOS and Android) will all be released simultaneously (exact date TBC). Football Manager 2020 Touch for Nintendo Switch is also due for release later this year.**

*Pre-release Beta is available from SEGA approved digital retailers only; please check here[www.sega.com] for an exhaustive list of digital retailers and more details as to what constitutes a SEGA approved retailer.

**All dates are subject to change.

Have the ball physics been corrected yet. IE, see a ball touched by a goal keeper then gain speed like a missile for one. Also is SI at some point going to code the game to be able to take advantage of higher end equipment? The ME is starting to look like something from the Amiga days.

We are always trying to improve the game graphics, in fact, here is the link for the FM20 new features - https://www.footballmanager.com/features

Not asking about textures, sprites or whatever, I am asking if Sports Interactive have addressed the fundamental issues with the ball physics. Ball spray is all very pretty and all, but doesn't add anything game wise. Also a point you may have missed, we are not talkng about graphics here lol.

The match engine AI and physics are worked on for every version and will be no different for FM20.

Thanks.

When I say 'will be no different' I mean it'll be worked on for FM20, much like it has for all previous versions.

Lol, so ask I valid question and then get a warning. Sports Interactive have a duty to their consumers to sell a working product. This has obviously happened in a general context, but rather than eliminate a known issue, or more than one issue, Sports Interactive are happy to push the product knowing about said issues. Now I know games can have bugs, and many developers push out patches to eliminate bugs. The difference is that other developers tend to confine this to one title. They also set another’s release date beyond the target to work on the games further.

Now Sports Interactive keep to a release date year on year. Obviously in that time, the consumer can expect to have a working and polished title. This is not happening at all and having the same issue with ball physics going back to at least FM 18, clearly this is either not being worked, or Sports Interactive have decided just release the game anyway.

Mr Brock, my previous post and answer to you was not disrespectful. I also find your response to my posts, and consequent actions to be extremely childish. Steam is a platform for many users and uses. I did not use defamatory language, nor did I personally insult you. I will say again, Sports Interactives pervading attitude it seems, towards solving by your words “we are working on it” is unacceptable.

Have no problems with you raising your concerns, what we do take offence with is stating "Really?? So same old crap then. Disgraceful really." and referencing "Mile's golden empire". That's why you were warned and your post hidden.

Generally we let our game speak for itself, but to answer your specific point, with every version there have been subtle changes to ball physics. It's an extremely delicate and complicated process for our team to work on. Every year they make changes and improvements. That's our definition of 'we're working on it' - by improving it every year.

Okay fair on the taking offence, perhaps I have been flippant. So these subtle changes haven't included deflection angles, and the most annoying being the ball defying physics and gaining ridiculous energy to be able to zoom off like a super car. Especially prevalent when a goal keeper gets a hand to it. This has been happening since FM 18, so maybe subtle isn’t the right direction eh?

There are other things still happening like a goal being announced before the shot being taken. Have also noticed three midfielders staring to crowd around players again. The matches breaking records every game for “the ball clipped the bar and went over” and bizarrely usually right in the middle of the cross bar. Yeah, subtle is working lol.

Stop being an idiot about it. This comment was uncalled for, maybe pull your head in.
