Total wars 3 kingdoms had been sold over 1 million copies in first week with very positive comments on stream.
I hope people could discuss 3k in both companies here and Koei team also see their challenge and keep the improvement. They are losing fan base and market share. That's very sad when I saw this RoTK 14.
With that said, I still find myself going back to TW3K every once and awhile as its a nice change of pace, but RTK will always be my usual go to.
Total war will never be better unless they fire their art director and completely change their design philosophy aesthetic wise.
At least its not Attilla Total War, the worst looking total war game to date... with piss filters everywhere!
Thinking of getting RTK13
The RoTK 13 is not bad. I have a good time with that. But I'm looking forward for better game play. I'll suggest you to wait it on summer sales.
Total war 3 kingdoms is better for me. I could see hero in action. I feel they are alive. Something more and better. But it's again that is room to improve in character, chapter, settlement improvement and the most important thing is deeper personality and ability, that make them unique. I can't wait to see more DLC and patch.
The western games, while it can also be fun, will never be able to capture the same feeling as these japanese games, mostly because they are aesthetically ugly. But even if say, you use the DW portrait mod on TW three kingdom, that game is just shallow outside of combat and the combat gets repetitive/tedious quick especially for people who already play over 200+ hours total in past TW games. They are all really similar/reskins of each other, unlike koei ROTK which is very different each iteration.
I did use the portraits mod for TW3K, but their ugly 3D models is still there.
That said, if TW3K's art is as good as ROTK (which I do not see it's happening), I will probably like TW3K more than ROTK.
