Surround and conquer
Does anyone know what exactly is required for it to appear?

Cause I can't figure out what I actually need to do to make it happen. I get it randomly - sometimes if I take almost every place in an area and sometimes I get it before taking anything. Other times I take everything and it never appears.

I know that, and I know how to do it. I want to know what the games actually looking for, for it to happen.

Like how do you have to take the cores for it to appear.

In my experience, it's best to do during large battles in certain places. The way you do it is you capture all of the fiefs surrounding a fief and then it will activate and capture the middle fief. If the fief is bordering a castle or has a fief surrounding it next to a castle, then surround and conquer isn't possible. But if you make use of it, all troops currently in the fief you used surround and conquor on will instantly be cut off from supply and disorganized.

It's a good ability to use during the Wei, Wu, and Shu scenarios.

Naw, its more if you get all small areas arounda base, or ports between two coast you can claim other small things in between.
This happens when you completely surround a village or a city. You can check how many areas need to be captured by hitting the "supply link" view on the top right corner of the screen. There's also gonna be a blue exclamation point on top of the village that you need to capture for it to happen. A red exclamation point means that if an enemy captures that place, then hes gonna nuke everything

I figured it out (thanks to the above bits). I knew about the supply link thing and the icon, but because you mentioned it, looking at it and seeing what it's actually showing makes it a lot clearer what you need to do.

For anyone who couldn't see like me..

Lines are either the color of the faction or white. If they are white it's between two different factions.

Basically, all the lines going in to the Yongan area from my area are white - marked with the green boxes.

So once I take the red box (which has the blue icon just not visable) all the lines leading in will be white, so it will do the surround and conquer to the cities touching the white lines.

So to make it appear for any area, figure out which bases you need to take to make all the lines leading out be white, and the last one will give you the icon to show surround and conquer is ready.
