Why do so many parents misunderstand/hate FNAF?
It's almost like they just look for any reason to hate it. I just read some parent reviews from Common Sense Media and the complaints vary from "tricking kids into playing horror games" to "summons demons into your house." It's sad. Why don't they let kids enjoy what they want to enjoy?

Yes, definitely. Although, some people are theorizing it wasn't the BV's dream, but a dream that Michael has sometime around Fnaf 1 (I think, don't know the specifics), because of the regret he has over the death of his brother. The evidence for this is because of some references in the game to Fnaf 1.

Well, like I said, I don't know all the details of the theory, but if you want more information feel free to make a thread about it.

my dads really cool bout me likeing fnaf p: i haven't seen parents like that but they prob exist..
Heres some hot garbage these reviews say:

my child now cannot sleep!
My 8 year old downloaded a free version of this game without my permission (strangely her tablet didn't ask for my password as it usually would?) as all her friends were talking about it. Within an hour or so I found out, questioned her and her siblings about it and then I deleted it. However it was too late. She is traumatised by it and will not go anywhere in the house alone and has to have an adult sleep in her bed every night. We're on night 3 now and she seems even more scared. I just wish I could make her un-see this game. Clearly way to scary for children. Can see me having to get her to a hypnotherapist at this rate :(

Horrible nightmares to be had!
My 5 year old step son, is allowed to watch gaming videos and play this at his BM house. We have attempted to explain that this game is not for children, especially that young, but instead of stopping him, they buy him figurines, clothes, collectibles, ect. He cannot sleep at night and some times gets hysterical about how terrified he is. I did a demo of the game, and was terrified myself. Do not let your children play this game.

Not good for kids AT ALL
My 7 year old told me last year that she was watching these clips on YouTube called "Five Nights at Freddy's". I didn't think anything of it, since we routinely ensure that they only watch cartoons and such. But one night she told me she started having nightmares about it, so I checked into it, read the backstory and cut the kids off from it, and denied access to TV unless we strictly control what they watch. I thought that was the end of it, but lately she has been writing things on paper about killing and death, all while drawing characters from the game and clips she saw online. She wrote things like "If you hear a sound like this shreeeeekkkkk your dead" "Fredy faz bere is killing pepel riteh now" (7 year old spelling) "You rilly want to di do you No!!!" "Like Rilly Dead" "Wate do you call were someone is trying to kidnap you what do you do? You call a dump to set you on fire hahahaha" This crap is unsettling. This "game" shows cartoon characters which draws kids in, making them think its a cartoon designed for them. Do not let your kids anywhere near this garbage.

Might be scary, but appropriate for children 10 and up
I think that this game is just fine for kids, and no inappropriate content for children, but if the child thinks it is too scary, they should not play. But be aware that the 2nd and 3rd game both have minimal, 4 bit blood in the in-game Minigames played with graphics of the Atari 2600. You can go to this website to find out why. Don't worry, this does not happen often in the game and is not part of the main game. freddy-fazbears-pizza.wikia.com/wiki/Purple_Guy. If you ever let your child ever watch a pg-13 movie, no matter what it is, it's okay for your child. And oh my FREAKING GOSH. THERE IS A THREEEEE IN the product /safety part of the game page. you DON'T NEED INTERNET AT ALL TO PLAY THIS GAME.THIS GAME DOESN'T COLLECT ANYTHING FROM THE PLAYERS. Once this game is installed, you can turn the internet off of your device forever and still use the full game.

Im a father and a brother of 4 precious girls in my life that I keep dear. The reasoning of why I joined in on this blog is to explain my concerns of this fandom and other associations of the concept. My concern is that this has become a psycological and viral threat to my two twin sister's, as well as my daughter in the future of this developement. My sister Hannah has an interest in the Friday Night At Freddy's fandom story-line as well as having a toy collection of this. As Her collection started with a toy she explained to me was of this ideaology of what seemed as a harmless kids thing that I had assumed was from a comic or movie. I realized further into my investigation that it was of a game or fandom concept. Noticing the vague and grotesque features of these collectable figurines, I realized that maybe there was more to this than what seemed a harmless play thing. I noticed the more figurines my sister was collecting, the more it seemed these; once thought up, "harmless toys". Were appearing to show features such as, blackened eye's, demonic appearences, and other disturbing features seemed to need a line drawn, based on her age and concerning mental status. I highly recommend not allowing any of your children or younger siblings under the age of 18 to keep away from this in all aspecs of the concept. Because of games, fandom, stories, books, video, etc. We are allowing the younger generation to accept this publicly as if the idea of it is just a thing we dont need to worry about influencing as a negative impact on them. Is it just me, or dont the reviews give you the idea of how bad this is? Understand this. It starts with us. It is up to us as adults, parents, teachers, coordinators and role models of every positive outlook to pay attention to these things that come out when they do and to take a stand. Blog about this to as many forums as you can. Tell as many supporters that are against these things to keep tryig to stop this madness. Consider the ages of most of the reviews that you deem acceptable when the acceptable age should be "none of the above" because this should be banned. I feel that I have done my duty as a role model, a father and a brother that my sisters understand this and will discontinue these things any further and positively be proactive in their daily lives as positive. I feel my daughter is safer knowing there are other people in the world that care about the negative impact of this dispute and that I am one of them. Thanks for reading! Jake T Gilbertson

Not in my house
When my son first became interested in this game I was a little uneasy..He never played always watched others on You Tube.He mentioned how the creator was a Christian after I mentioned my disapproval. It turns out the creator,Scott Cawthon..denounced God after several failures of Christian video games.Somehow,he came up with the FNAF concept and became hugely successful! It takes a twisted psyche to dream up a kids video game of a child murderer luring kids into a backroom at a Chucky Cheese type establishment!!!People on You Tube are making ever increasingly bizarre fan videos related to murder and brutality. My son went from being terrified of the game and it's violence to having dreams of kids being stabbed to death..Trust me..The posters, the building sets, the You Tube subscriptions are GONE ! Research this game, watch some of the fan videos..Those alone will scare the living tar out of you.

How the hell is a 15 year old having nightmares of this

OMG DEMON POSSESED
I am a loving father of 3 beautiful children. One is 15 he asked if he can get this game I reluctantly agreed. Seeing that it was 12+ on commonsense media. I was watching my favorite television program when he came to me at around 10:00 2 hours pasted his bed time. I said go back to bed he said I am having nightmares about Freddy. He then said that Freddy was in his room saying to hate God and love the devil. I said give me your iPad. Then I remembered that the parental controls for 30 mins was on and the iPad was locked until the morning. So then in the morning I deleted the game and told my son that he is not going to ever touch the iPad again without me in the room. 18+ do not let your child play

I’ve read a lot of the reviews that were discussed in this thread and the one that says hate god, love the devil is straight up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lies. I thought parents would actually be mature and check the material their reviewing. Namely, because the game files have been searched numerous times and there isn’t a single audio file saying it. Also that kid that his mom talked to the principal about, that was probably a middle school meaning 13-14 yr olds couldn’t even talk about the game like wtf.

Wait you mean to say that the 15 yr old had a bedtime??? That’s bad parenting right there.

Beware of this game. I have two sons and a daughter, and my two sons got into this game at age 10. My son came in my room one night while I was having mommy only time, and said that he wanted to sleep in my room. I asked him why, because he wasn't usually like this. He said he was scared of Freddy and Chica getting him in the night. I asked him who Freddy and Chica Were. He said, that they were from a video game. I asked him what video game, and he said "Five Nights At Freddy's" I looked it up. To my horror, I saw the characters. They looked demonic. I asked my son who he learned this from, and he said some kids at school. I emailed the principal, asking for this material to be banned from the school. Everyone, Beware, this game can harm your child!!
if you let a ten year old play horror games, he's gonna have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nightmares, that's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ common sense, and you can't blame the game for that, that's the parents' faults for not monitering what their children are playing

seriously??? there is literally nothing demonic in the game that would influence that kid to have nightmares where Freddy is trying to tell him to worship the Devil, and also, how the ♥♥♥♥ does a 15 year old have nightmares about FNaF??? has he ever played ANY horror games before, or even watched a single Markiplier video?

That's society for ya.
lol, this just like people letting their kids play Grand Theft Auto all over again. Then saying the game is bad. (Who lets someone under 14 play FNaF anyway? And funny enough, the age recommendation for the merchandise went from 14+, to 8+...) Really don't get why kids are getting THIS crazy and scared of the game; it's not like they watched the movie Poltergeist.
