FIX for Ultimate Custom Night keeps crashing on Windows 10

If the game keeps crashing for you, here is the fix that worked for me:

Locate the game executable (Ultimate Custom Night.exe) located at:

Local Computer > Hard Drive (probably C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Ultimate Custom Night

You can make the changes listed below to this file, or you can make a copy of this file and place it on your Desktop, to launch the game directly from your desktop, instead of from within Steam.

1) Right click on the file "Ultimate Custom Night.exe"
2) Select Properties
3) Click on the Compatibility Tab
4) Check the box under Compatibility mode "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select Windows 8 (the default selection here)
5) Under the Settings section, check the box "Run this program as an administrator"
6) Click the Apply button to apply and save changes, and click OK

That should do the trick!

you don't need to use any "Compatibility mode". the problem is that the game is trying to write files but does not have the necessary permission.

The game is incompatible with some builds of Windows 10. The executable deletes itself after a crash.

The "administrator mode" did not fix the problem, whereas the compatibility mode did fix it for me.

We JUST got a brand new Dell 5680 i5 Gaming desktop and this crash is making me crazy! i tried this fix and the same thing happens over and over. I have to uninstall the game and reinstall each time. We get as far and the office view and then it just crashes and the .exe disappears. What are the minimum system requirements for this game? It seems crazy that we can play Paladin, Fortnite, Star Trek, etc... and THIS wont run? any ideas?

We got a Dell G3 i5 8th Gen yesterday and are having the same problem. I've tried the compatibility and administrator tricks and it still isn't working. The .exe keeps being deleted after a minute of gameplay.

This happens to me too. The exe gets deleted.

I discoverd with help that i8t was my McAfee fire wall and realtime scanning. I need to disable those when i play UCN.

If you are using McAfee LiveSafe, do the following to add the game file to the exclusion list, and it should resolve the problem (McAfee is deleting the file, thinking it is malicious):

1) In McAfee LiveSafe home screen, click on the PC Security tab at the top
2) Click on Real Time Scanning
3) Click on Excluded Files
4) Click on Add File
5) Browse to: Local Computer > Hard Drive (probably C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Ultimate Custom Night
6) Select "Ultimate Custom Night.exe" and click Open

That will add the file to the excluded list, and you should be able to run the game without disabling Real Time Scanning. It is not a Firewall issue.

i'm sure this would help if i actually had anything in the ultimate custom night folder. i JUST reinstalled it and it failed to even turn on and made me reinstall some more stuff and i am so frustrated. does anyone have any advice before i lose my actual mind thanks lmao

Thank you! It worked. I apreciate it! The game couldn't hold until 6 am. Before it hold like until 2 am. The best fix i have ever seen! :)
