Ultimate Custom Night

Dee Dee is Currently a Mistake - Here's an Essay why.
(TLDR at bottom) According to the consolation bonus list, it can be confirmed that Dee Dee will indeed be an uncustomizable, forced animatronic in UCN. While the entire concept of Dee Dee is great, and a perfectly fine addition, the fact that she is forced into every custom night round is a generally bad decision on Scott's part. It really does dull the enjoyment factor in a bit for what is confirmed a part of the community, myself included. This ranges from Dee Dee's accidental breaking of specific challenge themes to leaving casuals with little to no preparation.

The following list will cover some points in more detail, to exhibit both problems & profits with Dee Dee, as well as solutions and precautions that could be taken to ensure that Dee Dee's perfectly imperfect chaos is experienced in the best way possible.

-=Problems with Dee Dee=-

1. General Dislike of Mechanic
To put this as understandable as possible, some people just aren't interested in Dee Dee's mechanic, and their dislike of Dee Dee ends up bleeding into the game itself if she is a recurring requirement for UCN. Some people just don't like the intense adaptations to survive Dee Dee, and would much prefer to stick with their selection of animatronics so they can play in a much more planned, casual manner. This is the most common complaint on the forums as of right now.

2. Theme-breaking Dee Dee Encounters
There is going to guarantee be a lot, albeit unknown how big a lot, that will want to play their own challenges that stick to a certain theme. This could range from a "Hose Animatronics Only" challenge to a "Chickens and Foxes" selection. The former would allow people to adjust to the new hose mechanic by being challenged against only hose-dwellers, while the latter would just be a fun challenge that would force players to learn the patterns of both the varied Chicas and the risky bunch of Foxy variations.

Dee Dee could easily break these themes. If you're ten-feet deep within the hose cams, and Dee Dee suddenly decides to dab in Withered Chica, chances are there's going to be a bit of distress. This stress isn't going to be set-in-stone because your theme is ruined (though it is a completely viable and likely possibility), but the stress of an unplanned animatronic that completely goes against how your theme plays can result in confusion and an arguably unfair loss. Playing a round where your only lethal threats were supposed to be the Toy bunch should not be interrupted with a violent Afton earthquake.

3. A Major Preparation-Breaker
When you first play UCN, you're not going to understand how every animatronic works in detail from the get go. You're going to have to play a few rounds to truly get the jist of every single animatronics' behaviors. So you start off by picking a few animatronics that you think work well together while not being extremely lethal, and you set them to a low difficulty so you are given time to adjust to the horrors of the overwhelming gimmicks. Then Dee Dee appears out of who knows where, and throws in a completely new animatronic that you don't know how to deal with. Then you have to spend time rushing to not only find out what that animatronic is, but rather how it plays and how high its difficulty is. This can leave a new player completely screwed over, with a possible minimal chance of survival.

Everyone knows that an unintentionally unfair game is not a fun game. Dee Dee is meant to spice up the game as far as the community knows, but the way she can second-hand manipulate outcomes for players is just disappointing. Of course, with the proper tweaks, her good side starts to show. Let's take a look at this good side.

-=Profits with Dee Dee=-

1. The Perfect Gimmick
Dee Dee is the absolute best way to spice up the FNAF games. She adds an element of surprise that isn't expressed in jumpscares, and really opens up a whole new layer to potential challenge. Just knowing that Dee Dee could, at any moment, toss in a new animatronic into your random selection of animatronics really keeps the adrenaline going. It keeps you on your toes, dreading the moment she adds in Jack-o-Chica while your office is burning hot. You're given an immediate objective that other animatronics on their own couldn't do. It's an unintentional roguelike campaign in a way. Great for replayability.

2. Challenges (Willing) Players
For both casual & learning players, the way Dee Dee's randomness functions can be a nuisance. However, for players that thoroughly understand each gimmick and are willing for a challenge, Dee Dee brings it. Dee Dee forces her opponents to lightning-round adjust to the animatronic she throws in. Just when you think you are prepared for your personal set of animatronics, she could throw in Chica and leave you with a sudden new timer you have to play by. From there on out, you not only have to defend yourself from your own onslaught, but you have to manage a new timer that runs Chica to further delay your death.

The best thing is that the above assumes you get Chica and not one of the other 51 animatronics.

3. Fits Her Theme
BB is a horrible person.
JJ is a horrible person.
DD is a horrible person.
This works well.

The Solutions & Compromises
Dee Dee is one of those gimmicks that can make or break your experiences in a game. You may love having to adapt to new challenges, or you may hate that your "All Bears" game has turned into an "All Bears & Withered Bonnie" game. Either way, when you have someone like Dee Dee in a customizable game, she should be customizable. Here are a couple solutions to fix her current state.

1. Give her a Permanently Unlockable Toggle Option
If you don't want her to be separated from the game completely, make the player work for their freedom, similarly to how you unlock the office skins. This would most likely be the least benefitial option, as players would most likely switch their complaints to "why isn't Dee Dee immediately removable?" but it would be a starting compromise, definitely.

2. Toggle Option w/ Penalty
If the previous solution seems a bit meh, why not try giving the ability to players from the get go? The catch would be a penalty. Having Dee Dee disabled could halve the points a player receives as a punishment, but not a complete block, for their controversial choices. This gives players an incentive to play with Dee Dee, and may attract casuals familiar with mechanics that are interested in earning their office skins and lore quicker.

3. 0-20 AI Option
How about having Dee Dee customizable just like the other animatronics? 0 would disable her, while the rest of the difficulties would determine the general difficulty of Dee Dee's spawned animatronics as well as the time and chance of her additions. Don't want Dee Dee being responsible for your 2AM death? Lower options should delay her attack significantly, while 20 could trigger her as early as 12AM. More options means less clickbaity title, eh?

The Conclusion (+ A Message to Scott Cawthon [+ TLDR])
Dee Dee, as far as we know, is in a pretty controversial state as it is. She's a double-edged sword that can win your heart or stab it. Or both - I don't know what you guys like. Either way, there's room for more fun in UCN, and fixing her required-ness seems to be the best way as of right now. What do you guys think?

[TLDR] Dee Dee completely breaks casual experiences, ruining wanted themes and catching learners in a close encounter of the lethal kind. She's great for people who like her adaptation-forcing behavior, but horrible for people that don't want her toggled for one or more reasons. Possible solutions include a toggle, w/ or w/o penalty, and if not a toggle a 0-20 AI system like every other available animatronic.

(Public Message to Scott Cawthon - Scott, I absolutely love the series you've built over the past couple of years, and for every past mistake you've made you have fixed, and so I trust you know what you're doing. I just hope you won't flub up on UCN's choices like you did with FNAF World. A delayed game with quality is better than a rushed game with quantity. In the end I do hope you stick to whatever you decide, but I just want you to know that if you take the time to polish the game, the community won't mind. Just :bbtgem: keep :bbtgem: flexin' :bbtgem: like you have, and don't forget that we appreciate what you're doing. Even if your trolls are too lit to handle. cough )

I just read the entire thing and I agree 100% entirely. While yes, Dee Dee is a great annoying addition and fits well into the BB line, I don't want her frickin up the beginning rounds of UCN.

If she can't have a 0-20 option in game, I think a good compromise is having an unlockable Dee Dee toggle option as you said, but until that option is unlocked, Dee Dee can't appear any games. Then once she is unlocked, having her off will reduce the points.

I say an unpenalized on/off option would be great- I'd hate to get Ennard on 20 while trying to fend off Happy Frog, for example.

Yes to all of this!

I totally agree...
DeeDee is good in annoying and being ♥♥♥♥♥ like her/his/whatever that thing is brother called Ballon ♥♥♥♥♥ but it would ruin some nights and themes completly (for example: I want all Fox-like characters - BANG! DeeDee spawns Chica.)

Or you can just go into notepad and disable her from there ;)

I have an idea:

toggle menu thats unlocked after so many points, and dd repel, but rather than getting it from losing it's a buyable power up from the prize corner
supersonic2233 Jun 22, 2018 @ 7:12am
Hack the game to get infinite DD repel and bam, no deedee

Well, there's a power up to remove DeeDee from the night, and although it's a stretch, what if you just go into notepad and give yourself insanely large amounts of that item?

I don't know how well I mentioned the DD Repel, but I did mention it in the essay. I know it's possible to give yourself infinite Dee Dee Repels, but imo the cheating in resources would take away from the vanilla atmosphere. I'd rather play a solid vanilla game than a semi-solid game with booster hacks.

At this point we'll just have to see what happens, though.

Amen.

Well the repel is unlocked by getting Game Over, correct?

Solution: Head to 50/20 mode.

But in all seriousness, I 100% agree and really hope Scott sees this.

We have Dee-Dee, Old man Consequences, Chipper (well as El Chip but still) and Lolbit. Who's next from FNaF World? If the 54th is Mendo, I actually wouldn't be that angry with it.

Damn. All these years later and Dee Dee is still an annoyance. Some things just never change. :lunar2019piginablanket:
