Why is Afton in UCN?

His own animatronic might have been there to remind him of what he'd become, after all, Afton himself said in FFPS he knew he was walking into a trap but couldn't resist. Springtrap might represent the insanity and evil in the man he once was.

Also, when the FNaF1 "Mike was the killer" theory was popular, part of that theory held that Mike was seeing the hallucination of Freddy Fazbear with his own eyes in the sockets. Per this theory, the hallucination was an "It's Me" reminder that he'd used an animatronic to kill the kids and was now trapped in his old workplace/scene of the crime.
