Challenges and Tutorial make you avoid freeroaming

I keep getting stuck in challenges an tutrials that keep me away from trying some fun lines etc. That was the fun of PIPE just going around a bazillion maps an having fun for an hour or easily more.

But travelling actually feels like work, maybe its the speed, turn speed or the VERY DIFFERENT physics and does not encourage freeroaming and going up there to try some trick...

I thought the speed was off as well, but it turns out to go faster you have to hold left stick up.
