As one of the "people" that do enjoy this game, I can sense a bit of "misunderstanding" the game here. You say you understand the game features and mechanics? If you do, then solving The Hill (2nd Mission) should not be so difficult.
When you fail a mission, look carefully at the after-mission report animations.
Have a look at some youtube videos if you must.
But the beauty of this game is the unknown. Use the map tools to get and keep a good picture of what is going on. This game is a fog-of-war game. You need to acquire and evaluate the information in order to direct your troops.
I hope you try again, there's so many good missions waiting. 😉
