"Requesting evac" ?
Is "requesting evac" the same as requesting "medevac"? When playing 2nd Mission, Alpha platoon keeps "requesting evac--send dust-off" but they have no wounded. And so I assume they want to evacuate their position. But when I ask for status report, they seem fine. A few minutes later, they "request evac" again. The voice audio sounds urgent. The message repeats several times. Eventually I send chopper (Green-One) and order transport of Alpha back to base. I then get a message from Alpha telling me this decision is unwise. Very confusing! Alpha wants evac or not? Also--I cannot medevac wounded from Bravo platoon. When I try, I get response "negative, sir"--but no explanation is given. Only way to medevac Bravo is to order them to move to LZ & medevac from there. Feel that more info is needed to make correct decisions.

It's up to you. I didn't evac. The units think they are in trouble but you have the tools to help them.

The infantry units demand evac due to low morale, not due to casualties. 9 times out of 10, as long as you're confident they're going to win the combat they're in, you can ignore it. It honestly gets boring how often they demand rescue when they're slaughtering the VC.

Yep they're engaging, after 5 secs they scream for medevac and then for evac, so I ask for their status, 1 wounded, full ammo, fresh stamina, best morale, enemies reduced from 30 to 5.... why the F you asking for evac.

Thanks for helpful replies--I have a better understanding now.

For me in the 2nd mission they ask for a evac every time a guy gets wounded.

Yes, that's basically correct. They will inform you, but as Dbrn said, it is up to you what to do. You are the commander ;)

Any chance you can get the voice line changed to "Reporting a casualty/Need a medic over here/etc." or something similar so it's less confusing? Every time I heard it I ended up requesting a report until I realized what was actually happening.

Ok, we can look at this closely. Thanks for feedback!

Agree on both actualy.
The unit is in a jungle. One of the guys are hit in the leg, wounded and have a hard time moving. It is logical and humane to request medevac and I think they should continue to request it.

But maybe in different terms, and make the commander able to reply something, for immersion. "Papa Bear, we have wounded. Request medevac when possible". Or "Papa Bear, request evac asap, deadly wounded and not able to proceed".

And optional replies like "Acknowledge x wounded. Evac not possible, continue mission". Or "Evac not available, over".

True, but as you said, they are in the jungle. Even an inexperienced unit would know that you can't just fire a chopper into any old place. Perhaps it should be terrain dependent, and more of a statement (we could do with a medivac for our wounded) instead of a demand for instant help.

I also think the shout for general evac needs to be looked at. I often hear this with seconds of a firefight starting, when my unit has favourable terrain, more men, plenty of ammo, and is fresh and previously in good spirits. If it's morale dependent then there is clearly a problem, because in the above situation there should be nothing wrong with their morale after 5-10 seconds.

Old thread but I'm playing this for the first time today and this is really confusing!
They tell me they outnumber the enemy, are winning and morale is high, then they scream for an evac - when what they seem to want is a med-evac.

How am I going to know when they want a full evac? It gets very tiresome having to hear that message and then ask "yeah, yeah, but now I have to ask for your status to find out what KIND of evac you really want!"
As suggested, a notification of wounded that require med-evac when possible would be SO much better.

Well that's weird, just after typing this they then did request a med-evac!!
But that still doesn't really explain why they ask for a full evacuation in a panic and then 30 seconds later tell me that Charlie are all wiped out :steamfacepalm:
