caves of green fire - secret area??

After FINALLY having a streak of luck and killing the abomination in the hospital I found myself in all your other lovely lovely maps. (for instance, I finished the graveyard the same time you introduced the witch - I guess I just missed her. Well, at least I expect her to be there.) The mines got me all hooked, thanks to the goog. I never realized they were this big.

Now I find myself in the caves of the green fire. As the name says, there´s this huge green fire visible in the distance. (soooo good. <3).
When you´re at the edge, in front of the metal door, the detective is all "too many people around. I have to find a way to clear them out."
So I start searching. the big room before the mystic bonfire (the one with the massive metal door) actually has two "entrances" to areas that are off the map, hinted at by missing stonework walls of the cave. I didn´t dare walking too far off the map, because I had such a good run, (camera won´t follow you, didn´t know how big that area is.)

I thought I´d let you know. It looked purposeful at first, because these missing wall pieces are exactly left and right in the walls.
Is this an error? a bug? Have I found a big secret?

so.....does anyone know how i can get into the room?
I cleared everything else(at least i think i have, there are no more chests or enemys anywhere and i killed the winged demon).
I don't see how i can reduce the guys in the green bonefire room.

Yeah, i used the detective Ability on the flute.
Although i now found a thing i didn't use, i did not use the demon wing on the gargoyle in the 2 chest room.
I will try that on my next run (i died on the way to the winged demon as i noticed that the gargoyle misses a wing ^^).

Thanks for the help i really enjoy the game and will try to get in the green fire room. ;)
