Staging Problem
Howdy! Long time Orbiter and KSP player here. Am enjoying Simple Rockets 2!

In trying to learn more about the environment in which this game is played, I've decided to build my own orbital rocket to test things out.

- I was trying the "parachute landing" challenge and I can't tell if that capsule has a heat shield or not...certainly it "fails" through overheating very easily, even with a gentle deorbit, to an apogee altitude of 70 km. Something is definitely off here...

- So I built a simple 2-stager, with side-strapped boosters, which should get me to orbit for my investigations. But I have staging problems:
a. The rocket has 6 stages: boosters and core engine for stage 1, just core engine for stage 2, interstage at stage 3, upper stage engine for stage 4, another interstage for 5, and parachute for stage 6.
b. When I hit the space bar, the game jumps through multiple stages at once. Then I have a full-thrust engine, not controllable, not eject-able (because it's at full thrust), pushing my upper stages in a circle. Is this a game physics issue? (My keyboard is wired.)
c. When it jumps through stages, sometimes it goes to stage 4, other times to stage 6. It's not consistent.

Anyone have this issue, or comments? Thanks!

Thanks for playing, hope you are having fun!

The parachute landing challenge does not currently have a heat shield, however the next update (hopefully in the next 24 hours) should include a heat shield for that challenge (sorry about that).

Not sure what is going on with your staging issue...
Could you try temporarily re-binding the activate stage input to a different key on your keyboard to see if it exhibits the same issue? If it appears to be a game bug rather than a keyboard input issue, I'd recommend logging a bug using our in game menu with this craft sitting on the launch pad. Your save game and active craft will be uploaded to our website, so we can download it and investigate the issue, as well as track the possible bug on our end.

Thanks, I'll try the different key for staging.
