One ran on money coming in even from returning banned cheaters buying new copies of the game, the other ran on initial investment and the odd donation with returning cheaters paying absolutely nothing for the damage they were doing to the game.

If TCF actually charged money at the onset after a trial period expired or something it would still be around today.

TLDR They didn't have exactly the same issues, one charged upfront money for the game the other hoped players would donate money to the developers out of the love of their game.
They had a very good battlepass unlike EFT. Maybe it was too good /s

The no wipes thing introduced later on actually made me play the game less lol, it was like a girlfriend saying you go play the field with other girls don't worry i'm free and i'll always be there waiting for you = i keep playing other games while saying to myself no need to go play TCF it can wait its not like my progress is in any danger.
The only thing they needed was a better tool to prevent ppl from cheating.
I remember that they were trying to fight, but .. they lost the fight and give up.
Thats the whole story.
At first, i was thinking that they are shutting the game down to try develop working anticheat, because the game was rly good and shutting it down forever was unthinkable.
Ppl were so mad (including me) and the trash talk was so big, overwhelming .. even the toughest would give up. I feel sorry for them, they gave us gr8 game for free, and we as community didn't appreciate it at all.

It is what it is :steamsad:

Edit, i have to admit, no wipes was something that ppl were crying about the most.
There was a solution, in escape from tarkov when you reach some level/quest line, you can reset your progression and recieve achievement and presitge badge, but you don't have to.

Wipes are something that brings ppl back to play, like a seasons in path of exile for example. But whatever ... :)

How is the official single player version of Tarkov right now?, I heard the ai got a update is it as good as unmod'ed SPT? or is it still a pass?.

Np just curious to see how its progress is going, if you got your gear back after a cheater got banned like TCF used to have i'd be more inclined to give online EFT a try. Personally after they added that to TCF hackers didn't bother me as much after that addition.
The crew I played with loved this game enough and spent money on the pass and DLCs to help the devs out cause we wanted it to succeed. I really hope it comes back because I like it more than tarkov, I do still play tarkov but I played this way more. Yes cheaters sucked but I had a lot of fun and would love this game to make a return even if it was for a paid amount. The thing is they have the basics down and just need to fine tune things and to look at it this way a lot of the dev work there is done mostly. It just seems like a waste to just shut it down and leave it in limbo. I hope they do something with it especially since they can rework it.

game was free = infinite opportunity to cheat + lack of funding for anti cheat
