Your thoughts on solo queue vs. duo/trio?
As a casual solo player, I keep running into duo/trio which forces my playstyle to be stealthy and just run away after farming. After several runs like this, it literally sucked fun out of this game and I uninstalled.

Idk, I'm fine with dying in this type of games but the way I was forced to play ONE WAY really bored me. What are your thoughts on this increasing trend of solo players leaving?

BTW - Please do not say I just need to find somebody on discord. Solo is my preferred way of enjoying games. Everyone's preferred gameplay style is different.

Agree. I am only taking best gear in Trio. No point in solo.

I have primarily played solo so far and found that I am able to take on duos but when it comes to to trios it becomes more tricky, When they get the drop on you, you are as good as dead if you dont have an escape path. This game is about taking it slow as a solo and you can become more aggressive the more you are in as squad. I have died a lot to duo/trio squads but managed to kill at least one trio squad through the use of grenades. It all really depends on what you want from the game. Having solo/duo/trios makes you rethink every encounter which is great but can be a huge disadvantage due to larger numbers. I do find myself picking safer roots till I can confirm where players are.

I see a large number of people complaining about solos but its no different to being solo in a survival game like Rust and Tarkov is the exact same and it doesn't hurt their popularity.

TL:DR - When playing solo be more careful unless you are confident in taking fights and when in a group you need to be careful to not attract to much.

Yeah its annoying when I'm looting a place and out of the blue some duo arrives and I end up having to shoot suppressing fire and run like hell only to get picked off by some cheater sniper.
SenseiDecay Jun 26, 2022 @ 2:41pm
I have only run into 1 duo in like 50 runs so far as a solo, but I only really play on the normal map. Just as a side note if I hear gunshots I run towards them, so it's not just because I avoid people.

Thank you Captain Obvious, you think us brain dead solo players didnt figure this out day 1 or just maybe ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ knew it from previous games?

The point is that your forced to sneak around as a rat at higher lvls unless your a fps god. That gets boring really quick and then you eventually lose all those solo players you enjoy killing with your trios. Duos i don't mind, it's a challenge. Getting bum rushed by a trio is not.

Exactly. I just couldn't get the fun out of this game by being forced to play one style, all the time. I hope they implement changes so solo players can also enjoy the game as well and players like me can come back.

The developers don't agree with you! They think that drawing an ass on the grass trying not to fart so that you don't get burned is fun! And the fact that even if you miraculously kill two newcomers, you will not be able to pull out all the loot from them stupidly, and therefore there is no point in trying to shoot with groups. But everyone gives a ♥♥♥♥ and developers and schoolchildren in a duo / trio is fun for them, and as always you just whine and cry and the game is not for you and other nonsense

If you mmr is low you won't run into trios much.

a wise man never use anything above gray during solo play
Well sometimes you have to use green/aboves anyway because your storage are full anyway.

It's pointless to argue, OP. We tried to change things during Closed Beta 1 and Closed Beta 2 in their official Discord. Didn't work out, as you can see.

Devs saw and still see the raw internal numbers without context - "people play mostly Duos/Squads, so they must be liking it - let's balance the game to favor of Duos/Squads then". And not just PvP, mind you, but PvE as well. Like those “kill crushers” quests or lvl8 PQ upgrade requiring 5 crusher hides (while you’ll 100% get backstabbed while trying to kill a crusher Solo). Or those end-game activities, like the UBER-LOUD Korolev laser drill that calls the whole map on you (louder than the Uplinks) or the Osiris laser-drill dungeon, which is clearly intended for Duos/Squads, not Solos. Both due to the sheer amount of PvE inside of it, plus the constant possibility of getting backstabbed by others while you’re doing it.

Many play in Duos/Squads because they like playing like that or they have friends to play with. Nothing wrong with that, nobody judges them at all. But there are also others who feel being FORCED to play in Duos/Squads to have a fighting chance - they feel they can't compete as a Solo against Duos/Squads, so they take the easy way out - they group up. Thus only further increasing the raw numbers of people playing in Duos/Squads, influencing the balance choices of devs. Not because these players want to play like that, but because they feel like they have to do it. And devs happily nod at the increasing numbers of Duos/Squads. While dedicated Solo players get frustrated and either keep going through it until they have a break-down and/or leave the game.

And you'll see lotsa NPCs who keep on yelling various shapes of the same things over and over to such threads about balancing Solo-play/Solo-queue:
1) "Git gud"
2) "Play smart/sneak around"
3) "Choose your fights"
4) "Find friends to play with, you antisocial loser"

Unlike Hunt or Tarkov, Cycle has zero balancing mechanics to even the odds - such as one-shot face-/head-shots, rewarding skilled aim, as one example. And they want it to stay that way. Because the Solo vs Duos/Squads disbalance is clearly in their favor. They need this "Easy Mode" to be able to run around with no fear, bulldozer through PvE content and just unga-bunga all Solos as a Duo/Squad of apes. To easily take your loot, of course. They need it to compete - to overwhelm with numbers, not skill. You know, “apes together strong”. And they will defend this lack of balance until the end. Because it's in their favor. One can argue - but hey, Duos/Squads have to share loot, while Solos take everything for themselves. Yeah, but Solos are forced to a snails pace in progression - in-match(to sneak around and stay alive) and overall - while Duos/Squads just rush through everything and can do double or triple the amount of raids a solo will. Simply due to how Duos/Squads are an “easy mode” in PvE and PvP.

Plus there are those NPCs with the "I don't have the problem, which means the problem does not exist" mentality. Can't do anything about this narrow line of thinking either. Solo players in denial. They say that “everything is fine” and they eat Duos/Squads for breakfast, lunch and dinner, killing em all with one single mag-dump… of a Bulldog. Yeah, right. We believe you. We all gladly believe everything you say. (sarcasm)

Don't waste your time here on Steam forum, you'll only get frustrated even further. Just like me and many others who tried to change things since CB1/CB2 in their official Discord. Nobody listened to us back then, nobody will listen now either. Or they’ll say they listen and hear, but only do some nonsense like removing quality-of-life features such as pings and outlines “to help Solos”, while in reality it only made Duo/Squad experience worse, but didn’t help Solos in any shape or form. Just like they decided not to listen to a whole lot of other bug reports and feedback, dropping the release with bugged stuff that people reported/documented during CB1/CB2.

Sad reality of Online gaming these days.
So sad Devs haven't been listening to feedback since CB...

I mean I think the point of these games is that you don't know the opposition you're going up against, numbers or gear. I've come across many duos and trios and it is pretty annoying when you're solo, it just comes down to seperating them into 1v1s or ambushing one and killing them fast. Tarkov has one taps but the thing is it has one taps both ways and you easily get overwhelmed in that game in solo vs duo/trio.

You don't have to be stealthy honestly, I pretty much shoot and don't really care if I die to random nonsense but I feel like I've had the most success when I play very aggressive in areas rather than slow play them. That said I've only gotten to green gear and have fought a few blue armored individuals and they are a nightmare to kill, let alone 2 or 3 of them.
Seva Jun 27, 2022 @ 3:08am
while I wouldn't mind a solo mode being added, I solo all the time and haven't had much issues. I've only been playing for about a week.
