What do private rooms do?
I am playing the campaign and made a private room with a bathroom, and no one ever uses it?

You rent those rooms to special guests, bards, vedetas, adventurers, and fighters. Those guest will have a gold key above their heads. If the room is furnished in the way the guest likes you can rent the room to them. The room is free, you wont earn money by directly renting the room. However, each of the guests can provide a service that will help out your inn. Bards can entertain, adventurers can go on missions earning you rewards, vedetas can offer special services to others guests, ect.

In the campaign, you'll encounter some people who will want a private room, so it is good being prepared. Most of them have special needs, wanting it to be decorated in a certain style or wanting a particular item of furniture.

Ok, so what does a private room need to be deemed acceptable? specifically one of the vedetas beds? is there a specific size or quality threshold (by adding wash basins and desks) that must be met? must there be adjacent washing facilities, accessible only to this room?

I'm at the point in the scenario that it wants me to build a private room, but i've been delaying until i was a bit more... financially stable before i started experimenting with this. any pointers would be welcome.

It is a long time since I played campaign mode, although as I recall the basic mechanics are the same as sandbox (although you might be given specific information about the person's requirements in the dialogue). In general, the potential user of a room will have a key above their head, and a corresponding icon when you click on them, which leads to the rent private room dialogue. Here you can see their specific requirements, and they won't accept any room that doesn't meet the requirements. If you don't have a suitable room, you can pause the game and make a new room or rearrange an existing one. If you need more money, or if you need to unlock an object from a distant town, you can unpause the game and hope you get the money or unlock the item before they leave, but usually you have plenty of time.

Alright thanks. I may refund the room since I am strapped for cash and trying to pay back a loan within 10 days. I may have to go back to it later when I make more money.

You don't need to worry about repaying back your loans. Absolutely nothing happens if you don't.

As far as what is required to put in a room, the renter will tell you. When you click on anyone with a gold key above them and select the rent room icon. You will get a new pop up window. At the top of the window will be a row of boxes showing what that person wants, each of those boxes will have a red x mark in them. Below those boxes will be a list of all the private rooms you have in your inn. Select the room you want to rent, if the room meets the requirements the red marks will go away. If not, simply close the window, add the items to the room and try again.

For most renters the requirements are very simple.
Bards require a bed, an elegant desk, and a night potty.
Adventurers require a bed, and a chest
Vedetas require a vedeta bed, a changing screen, and a dresser.

Keep in mind vedeta beds and normal beds are not always interchangeable. So do not use a vedeta bed when a normal bed will suffice.

For sandbox, room size and room quality has no effect. Although, i would recommend 2x2 as a minimum size, with as a good size 2x3 if you want a larger room. I have never needed any private room bigger then that.

For campaign, some of the story driven renters will be more picky, often demanding a room be decorated for a certain faction or region.

Sounds good thank you Wantoomany.

So I have built several 2x2 private rooms on the second floor of my inn, connected by an "empty room" hallway. I was able to book bards in these rooms, but found that as soon as they sleep in the rooms, the beds will never be remade, regardless of priority settings. I struggled with this for awhile, and then found that if i drag the beds into the hallway, my staff will remake them, and then i can put them back. It is a slightly irritating work around, but this might prove useful to someone reading this thread.

Now that is a new one I haven't heard before. Do you have any servants set on Room Services or Drudges set on Manual Labor? They are the ones who make the beds. Let me know! I am always on the lookout for new potential bugs that I can report back to the devs on.

HI LeaPi,

I have multiple people with both manual labor and room services turned on... they wouldn't be able to remake the beds in the hallway otherwise. I hired a new staff member with the main purpose room services just to see if this fixed anything, but no such luck. Also of note: i just progressed from Act 1 to Act 2, and a) Campaign stage did not change the situation, and b) this is not specific to bed type or type of private room user.

If they are making beds in the hall, but not in the room. I can only suspect that the problem has to lay with either the room settings, perhaps the room is restricted to your drudges, or that perhaps the way you have the beds placed in the room is preventing the drudges from accessing them.

It is possible it could still be a bug, but it seems odd that it is location dependent. At the very least, I would try to rule out the above suggestions before troubleshooting further.

thanks for the ideas, but both are ruled out. All staff are allowed in the rooms, and i've tried different placement of the beds. something weird is going on.
