How can I change the type of a room?

During the campaign (before marriage) I tried to build a kitchen room on the place of the existing storage (or guest room) and build a new storage room. But there is no way to overbuild a existing room completely!
Yes it's possible to overbuild a existing room partially, but it costs money (which is completely nonsense for a existing room, which needs to be renamed only) and some parts are not removable.

It needs a button "rededicate"!

That is already in game and presented to us very early on in the campaign tutorial. Click on the room - click magni glass to see details of the room - in there you should see a name of the room and rolldown menu to select another type of room. Do that.

Ah. That' a little bit hidden now. But i did what you said an d it worked. Thank you.
The old way in building menue was a bit more intuitive. Guess it was a additional way to do that since the way you described existed from beginning, did it?

I bought CI just a week ago (GOG newsletter) but i watched some ytb videos for tips and tricks, this was one of those mentioned. All before AE, so if it changed i can't comment.. sorry. But glad you found it. The building and room mgmt can get quite confusing, i regularly have problems extending Main hall or Kitchen :P

But normal extending of rooms is less a problem than changing affiliation of room-parts. For example extend the storage room to another direction and switching some former storage-room-tiles into kitchen-room-tiles on the opposite direction.
