To use the oven and other facilities, you need to buy wood from neighboring towns from the world map, and in Furnish mode buy a chopping block. I still don't know which task really makes a Dredge chop wood, but play around with it.
For recipes, identify the food to buy, and buy from the neighboring towns as well. I still can't figure out how to garden, but supposedly you can make grow your own vegetables, etc.
The cook seems worthless, I don't get the logic or why it happens, but my servants seem to cook, while my actual cook seems to just drink all the time. Ended up firing him lol
You can buy both from markets, but obviously buying wood and chopping it yourself into firewood will be the most cost effective.
Cooks are not worthless, but you need to understand priorities and how the various foods and skills work. There are four kinds of dishes in game soups, snacks, sweets, and main dishes. There are two skills that prepare food and drinks, Innkeeping and cooking.
Cooking is only used to make main dishes. These are any recipes that use 4 ingredients. Innkeeping is used to make soups, snacks, sweets, as well as drinks. Innkeeping is a skill that both kitchen staff and servers have. Basically, innkeeping makes tavern type light meals and snacks while cooking makes full restaurant quality meals.
So if you want your kitchen staff to make food, set innkeeping to high. Then set it to low on your serving staff.
I figured out what my problem was, I could not make a room.
What happened, and not realizing it, i had the up arrow selected and was only able to build on the second floor. I was not able to make a kitchen.
When i restarted the game notice the up and down arrows were levels and not an upgrade feature. Was able to build a kitchen on the ground level and the items became available in the build menu.
Thanks again.
