smokehouse question

i am thinking of getting the smokehouse unlock but i am unsure how to get meat out of the meats i can find from trading the sausage is on the cheap side so what all meats work and what can i get that is price effect, i see the thing for getting meat for rats though i dont see that many rats making me wonder if it is worth the unlock point for the rat meat and smokehouse?

You don't get to choose what meat to use. You can only use pork in the smokehouse to make sausage.

how do i get the pork then?

Buy it from the world map, just like anything else. You might have open a few trade routes to get to a market that sells it.

You will also need a place to store it. Pork will not go on a shelf. You can put it in a dugout or a larder. For the larder you will also need ice.

You can also build pigsy if you want to raise pigs
