Cooks won't cook
I have a kitcen, chopped wood in the kitchen and all the cooking appliances and ingredients...and the cook. But he won't go in the kitchen and cook. Why? How do you activate cooking?

It's possible that the appliance is full (it can store food for whatever reason), so until the food is used up they won't make any more.

Did You choose the food and amount of it on the stove or grill?

The appliances aren't full. And I choose the food but how do I choose the amount?

Remember that Servants can prepare basic dishes too! Hire more of them, they might be overworked.

Now that I got the cooks to cook food, I can't empty the grill. The grill is full of food and the customers are complaining there isn't enough food and the servers won't go to the grill to get the food.

I have the same problem. It shows as a triangle with an exclamation point in the menu.. There are. 10 9f them on the stove. Hate to say it, but this game is just not playable right now.

SORTED OUT

You need to have chopped wood in Your inventory...
Wood itself isnt working if there is no chop wood thing and in the beginning this isnt allowed to buy, but whats weird cooks prepare the dishes but those cant be sold if no chopped wood availble.

I had the same thing happen, perhaps the cooks only prepare posh meals for nobles on a top end stove?

This (or something like it) has happened to me with version 2.0.1 too. I don't remember it ever happening with earlier versions.

I had my cooks set to cook and artisan (both high, though I'm not yet at a point where "artisan" would do anything) and all other stuff off. They would just lounge around, with "resting" hourglasses as their icons, except brown instead of blue (I guess this means they have no work to do, as opposed to they're on break).

If I turn on their kitchen help to low, they're willing to wash dishes, but not to cook.

There were enough ingredients. There were enough free spots in the cauldron. It had firewood. I had queued up things to be cooked there. There were a bunch of customers complaining about how hungry they were.

Every so often, a servant or Martyn would make a meal. The cooks (one of whom is a workaholic) never would.

My customers are getting fed...It's just the maids are doing all the cooking and waiting the tables..My kitchenaid and cook are doing the same as yours...Maybe we dont have enough customers yet and the servants can handle the load? I don't know...I'm gonna keep going, I'm making money...Might fire the lazy bastards soon..

My kitchen staff dont cook if I set it as a priority, they work on it if I dont change any of their priorities
