Question about story and ending
Hi there,
maybe this story is not so "simple" to me because I have still some question marks after finishing this game :)

I understand that we play through the memories of the old man with all his losses.
But why is the last chapter called "Hope" where he ends up kind of lost in the darkness although the small light comes back in the end. And why does he find his wife in stone but with a child in her arms?

I love this game but the end is kind of unsatisfying :)
Thanks for any help you can provide.

The last chapter is called Hope because of the light calling him from the top of the mountain.

The end simbolizes the last image the old man chooses to live with for the eternity. As if you could choose an image of all your life to finally rest. It ia s the old woman with the child tgat died but he turns to stone with the whole family reunited there. It is a bittersweet end but a good one for our old man.

Necroposting, but still...
As we may have seen though the game - each one of stone figures and statues represents part of his life, a small place made of his feelings and memories of it. He sits near stone, and his self moves to this dream world. He just had chose, which one he wants to spend eternity in.
He chose to sit down near the figure of his wife and unborn child. We don't see this memory, but it shure would be a happy one. He becomes stone in limb, but we may asume, that his self trevelled to their dream world, leaving stone husk in frozed nowhere.
