I'm making a fair argument i think, it might be wrong, but listen. Check out they kickstarter page and tell me if you don't think it's gonna have a sequel.

They definetly have a lot planned that they didn't put in the game, and i'm sure this game was made by heart, lungs and sweat. So they maybe thought to see if people would actually buy the game, and then continue with the project, to make everything worth it.
There are so many unanswered questions to the plot and some little hints like when its said something like:

"I don't know if the artifact its not as strong enough, or is it the subject (Howard) that is taking the artifacts effects bravely and strongly"

it is far from what it literally says but the idea is more or less that, i think that can be found in the archives from the testing that they make on Howard.

The sequel Is it thought to have more action than the previous game, as we see Howard prepared to fight (even if it is a cutscene), with the Artifact as a help and not as an enemy.

The Apes, The Minister, The Wall, Renee, Howard Itself, absolutely nothing has a resolution, hence i think there must be so much material and plots to explore and explote from the general lore.

In the letter provided lately, the game studio said that there it is more of Backbone coming soon.

I've said before that the game was worth my money, and i see myself buying the sequel if Howard didn't died in the last scene, instead that cutscene meant that the Artifact has taken control even more in his body, incluiding his arm and so other stuff, i think also that the little toughts and conversations Howard mantains with this cellular thing are pretty cool.

This first part as itself its more an art, philosophical an literature thing, which i think its cool, but with a sequel, the story as a whole will have even more coherence, and plots that we're left open, closing, having said this, i also think that some things doesn't necessarily have to have an enclosure, or ultimate explanation, but not as in much quantity as we saw here.


I hope the studio obtains that much money, support and fortitude to make the Backbone world return to life.
Think about it, Backbone it's the title and we barely seem that reason in action!

Those were used to sell the game we got, not its sequel. They were part of the original design which got changed along the way. They are not indication of a sequel. Sorry.

They said there is more coming in the hopes of softening the blow that the game is so short and ends unsatisfyingly. We're not talking about a matter of months here, the first game was kickstarted in 2018 and came out 2021, so it's going to be a while. And I believe there's also been some indication from the developers that the sequel wouldn't star Howard.

Man, first of all, i disagree entirely, nah i'm just joking, you and i know that what you said is pretty much what happenned, i guess it hurts when such an incredible universe its created and falls apart in that way.

nevertheless it could actually have a sequel, but as you said, it may take years to develop and the story its pretty much ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. have a good day

Didn't one of the developer on Twitter strongly imply that there won't be a sequel?
And with how things went, i doubt the game even sold enough copies, amidst a sea of refunds (like i did), to warrant it anyway.

I mean, the company best just closes down, you can't really get away from flat out lying and deceiving people (Kickstarter promissed an entirely different game, so did the demo and even reached stretch goals like the voice acting isn't here) to the point where i honestly think the entire product is just a massive scam - who would actually buy a sequel after experiencing this? I know i wouldn't, no matter how many raccoons they pack into it ;)

No, if nothing else they confirmed on Discord that they were starting work on the sequel before they were done with the first game.

I can't disagree with you, but they also showed to be able to produce some great quality stuff, so, towards the future, idk, i will maybe forget about the whole thing and if in some time there's a sequel i will think about it again.
