Mic not working

I'm trying to play with a friend but for some reason when i press the key to use the walkie talkie he can't hear me, and if he does it i can't hear him. We are not talking at the same time so i don't know why this is happening. The music audio from the game actually gets a bit lower whenever any of the two of us presses the key to talk as well as the light bulb on the walkie talkie lights up, even so we can't hear each other.

I opened a lobby just now to test some changes i made in my microfone, and aparentilly its working because some random dude entered and i could comunicate whit him perfectly but i don't know if it will work as well when playing with my friend, does the way in wich you open a lobby makes any difference?
