Can't finish the game (spoilers)
Hey. I enjoyed the game and I'm at the very end (I think), but it looks like I can't finish the game. As I always do, I started my first playthrough on the hardest difficulty. I haven't had many problems apart from some 'basically one shot' surprises.

I'm at the end now, infront of Eos where I have to destroy that big lumae ship. Thing is, I can't. It's too strong. I've tried every weapon available to me, except the big spinal mount which I did not research because it didn't feel like it was necessary. Thing is, I've basically done everything apart from two or three quests I don't know how to continue, so I also don't know how to gather any more research points except for one method, and that is the telescope. Salvaging large wrecks doesn't give me any more, catching probes also doesn't, meteors also don't trigger anything. Is there any way other than waiting and loot the telescope every 1-2h hours for 200 points?

Also, the game crashes every time I get destroyed by that 'boss'. The entire game ran smooth and without a single crash, but the lumae missiles seem to cause a crash every time it destroys me or runs out of fuel and destroys itself.

Any ideas?!

Funny i hadnt to destroy a ship just warpjump eos

I did that several times at different locations around and atthe entrance, but I figured I have to be inside for it to work. And to get inside again I had to kill that boss.

Which shipsetup do you use,, Laser Shilds?

Uhm. Yes, exactly. Why, is there a bug with that?

I've tried different weapon setups but always used shields

It's not acutally a CTD, only a freeze and the game eventually unfreezes if you just wait. Had this myself in the endbattle only 5 minutes ago. A safe method to kill the boss is to stay out of reach and use the axial gun. It can destroy the ship from 500 to 600 units away. Aim for the target marker.
EDIT: If you don't mind cheating, you can edit the save game file (quicksafe_xxxxxxxxxx.json) with Notepad++ and give yourself some research points to unlock the axial gun.

The key is sometimes to aim for one point of a station/ship, so boosing hitting the area, running away. Than recover shilds and repeat.

Some suggestions:

1] You can farm a lot of resources, and redesign the structure of your ship. Armor has a cumulative effect from adjacent armor bonuses, and so if have a wall of armor, it is much more effective than individual chunks. So, if you built the entire forward section of the ship with armor, and placed all your other modules behind, that might give you enough defense to survive a "frontal assault".

2] With the whole resource design in mind, having a massive number of shield generators, reactors and no armor, might be a more useful strategy. Do a hit and run style attack. With a lot of shields, they recharge faster, so take a bunch of hits, retreat, drop shields and let them recharge.

3] Any modules that are blown off an enemy ship, remain permanently lost. So if you focus your fire on a particular section, destroy it and then retreat, then it won't get repaired.

4] Lasers are very effective against shields, but plasma turrets are effective against armor. So you might want a few of them, when you knock out their shields.

5] In general, more speed is better than more armor. However, more shield is better than more speed.

6] Once the Sentinels are made your allies, you can blow them up to your heart's content without ever angering them. Can be a risk-free way of farming resources. Just don't blow up the one outside of the Dyson sphere. I did that once, had to reload my save game, as it wouldn't respawn.

7] In theory, you shouldn't need to destroy the big protective ship, for the last part of the game. Just do the warp hop, and it will end the game pretty fast.

I just killed the biggest lumae ship 2x and it crashed both times... any fixes?

Did it with axial cannon fully levelled up and some plasma and flak for defense...
Yep same thing. hardest diff first play, enjoyed it a lot but now filled with issues like crashing and stuff at last boss. finally beat him but no idea what to do next. when inside, spoke to the sphere, nothing happens.

I had the issue with crashing after defeating the boss. Turns out that you have to wait a few minutes and it unfreezes. For me it was three minutes,
Interestingly, i ended up getting like a climactic battle fleet formation like at the end of any given Star Wars movie when i had to dislodge the big Lumae ship at the front door at the very end. Over time a bunch of Sentinel frigates, Saurid battlecruisers and a few Araona cutters came and pooled around the planet between the dyson sphere and the warp point, and they slowly followed me as i moved to engage the "boss ship" and they really did work both engaging its escorts and bearing damage down on the main ship itself.

Looked cool for a final fight.
