Key Filters?
Commodor Price keeps asking me "How goes the search for the keys?" At this point in the game I have explored most of the sectors in the four spiral arms, my scanner tech is maxed out, and have yet to find a single 'key." Are keys metaphorical or tangible items? When I search the Mission Log all I get is the Key Filter mission and these Commodor Price questions, so I guess I have yet to find a single key.

FWIW the only quests I have left in the Mission Log, other than the Key Filters are the Dyson Sphere (which I have found), Message Fragments (I have 2 of 3?) and Temple of the Fallen Gods. The last one I found the planet but the caverns are too vast to explore or something to that effect.

Otherwise great game though some quests are a bit obtuse, for me at any rate.

After completing one of the quests I was awarded a 'key.' They are in fact analogous and not actual keys. Onwards.

I would check your questlog as it lists how many you have (I think minimum needed is 6, I had 8 i think and just found a 9th). I had 5 from before I even had the quest, when your first officer has the message about advanced algorithims/maths that was finding a key without you knowing.

You can buy one at the Zoar outpost (25 adamantine, radio message). You get one for getting the items for the museum. Potentially find one while doing the Fallen Gods quest. Not sure about the others, you just find them for completing anomolies and quests.

Literally 4 minutes after I posted I found another, complete the Tyno Cyedean forest blight quest and travel to the location given and you get a lot of research and a key.
