Glowing Bomb Things
First: Thank you for this game, I really like it.

I have one question, maybe i missed that information. The glowing things which explode, what are they for?

Avoiding.

They explode if you touch or shoot them, so don't.

yeah i got that, but what the hell are this things?

The first time you approach one it says they are some kind of not exploded ordonance. It also gives some research points but only for the first you encounter. After that they just should be avoided. MAYBE you could lure some enemies close to them and make them explode from a safe distance but I have never tried that and don't know wether thats intended or not. So don't blame me if it goes wrong ;).

There really is not a safe distance. Even fully shielded (4-5 generators) your plasma cannons put you too close and you will take an enormous amount of damage, if not get outright destroyed. Getting an enemy to fly into one *might* work, but again the question is where are you going to be when that happens? You are better off just avoiding them.

I survived with maybe 20% hull on a fully armored and shielded ship when detonating one with plasma (without enemies close). Thus I thought more of lasers to ignite them. But I agree this is more of a "for the lulz" situation than a reliable everyday strategy.
Also I don't know if enemy ships destroyed this way still leave resources to collect. But if someone has tried this already it would be cool to hear some other opinions.

I just lock onto them and fire a missile at them from long range.

They do leave resources. Not sure if it's the same amount as killing them normally but I haven't noticed much difference the handful of times I've done it.

Thats good to know. Thanks for reporting it back. When you say you have done it a "handful of times" it sounds like you actively use this strategy? Do you find it viable? Which weapons do you use to ignite the bomb? Do you fly a special maneuver to lure the enemies close to it and get yourself in safety?
Palandus Jan 16, 2020 @ 9:40am
Only weapon safe enough to detonate the bomb, is the Axial Ultragun. Though, at that point, you might as well just aim that gun at the enemy, rather than the bomb. You have to be outside of the vision range of seeing the bomb, to avoid the explosion.

not sure if it's called unexploded munition but I'm pretty sure it's called Dark Matter (or Anti-Matter) in-game, missiles work just fine to destroy it but you need to lock-on first.

BTW I had one near miss when I'm travelling straight at full speed between voids toward another star, I took a glimpse of 'something' when flying then out of curiosity I stopped and traced back only to find out that as much as you encounter 'space seeds', your ship might accidentally collide with this one, space is harsh, YOLO :)))
