Playing with controller.
Does this game work well with a controller? It only says "partial" controller support so I want to make sure I am not disappointed because I think this kinda game (top down 2d) is perfect for a controller. Any players that played through the game with controller only?

I'm just answering because there was nobody with a controller answering: I didn't use a controller because I'm proud PC masterrace (just a joke, I played other games with controller) but from what I've heard, it's mainly the menues that have issues, like where you're upgrading your ship

but better wait for someone that used a controller to answer, I'm just writing to keep it at the top

It plays off station well with the controller. It might be more precise if you played with a mouse and keyboard but you sacrifice a bit of arcade charm. On station the controller is not quite right and the keyboard controls are the way to go.

I play with Xbox One wireless controller and it works rather well. I wish other top down space games like Gaia and Star Valor used similar controls. Granted I did set up my own profile for Star Valor but they are supposed to be adding controller support in the future.

Me and a few other users are having issues where the game will constantly act as if a controller is pushing upward. Apparently this has started to happen to users who don't even have a controller plugged in.

Edit: I managed to fix it by installing the scp drivers for my ds4 controller. It's possible the game was registering multiple inputs due to the ds4windows drivers.

I think quite a few people are having problems with this. The game isn't correctly isolating / ignoring controller inputs. My rudder pedal toe brakes (which are always in a 'full forwards' position) scroll the menus like mad. I'd refund if I could as it's unplayable.

I play it mostly with a controller, but I still use a mouse when docked with the station, because it can be a bit wonky otherwise. I use the controller for flying, and random planets, it works just fine for those. I do, however, have a custom controller config that I'm still tweaking as I am not a fan of the default (I use ds4windows to remap my controller anyway, since steam's controller "support" is nothing but trouble, so it's not too different from using a controller normally).

Controller for battles and spaceflight. M + KB for everything else.
