Sentinel Superstation
How do you destroy this? I decked out my 28 slot ship with missiles and parked at 350 units away from it but still got wiped out by death ray in one shot.

Just destroyed a bunch of them with a shield(2)-laser(4) layout. Just don't stay in the line of fire of the big gun (especially, don't park...). For me: two or three "get in, fire all lasers, get out(~500), charge back batteries and shield" are enough.
My two maxxed shields can sustain one shot of the big gun and only lose ~60%. To be fair, I hit the turbo as soon as I see I'm going to get hit, to get out of the way, maybe it lowers the damage.

stay moving there is a marker if the cannon can shoot, a small red line. bombard this station an circle it a bit. It will take quite some shots.

The blast itself can be survived if you have more then ~5k hitpoints of structure which is around 65 slots. Armor increase the shot survivability. but you can stay out of the marker and never get shot.

You will receive parts of this weapon and may build your own later on

Edit: Shields seem to work only dimnished i had 16k shield points with 4,8k life and it still ripped me once

just fly fast away...it never hits me....

Honestly, this station is pure BS, if there was a warp hole leading to it it wouldn't be so bad but getting blown up straight after treking all that way is incredibly irritating. I think I am going to shelve this game for a while, it's really lacking polish when it comes to difficulty spikes and quest tracking. Hopefully, I can pick it up again at the end of the EA.

It actually is a fairly simple fight. Destroy all of the support ships first, and then stay close to the super station. It has limited close-quarters weapons and if you stay ahead of the axial ultragun, it goes down pretty quickly. I defeated it with a missile build as well.

The axial stations are brand new in 12.4 so they may need some balancing or a closer gateway to the first one you encounter (prior to 12.4 the station in that sector was tough but lacked the axial gun)

There should be pop-up with the officer informing you to stay away from the "aiming laser" since she notice that radar pickup incredibly high energy readings.

To counter the station it is fairly easy, just get close to it and circle it.

28 ship slots seems low for by the time you reach the super stations. Seems like you missed the shield tech too, shields absorb most (but not all) damage from the axial gun. Armor may help, but I don't know how much as I don't use it. By then I'm running with 14-15 missile components, go in, launch all missiles, pickup resources that drop off station parts, run away, let missiles restock (also to repair hull and recharge shields). Short engagements with maximum power is how I prefer to go.

Shields don't stop the axial ultragun on hard. I had 3 generators, at full charge with most of shields researched and it oneshotted me.

I played through on Ultra+, had 11-16K shield strength, station's axial gun took shields down by half + some extra damage to hull and crew loss.

BUT that was also at a distance of 600+ and axial gun power is lower at higher distance.

Two main ways to take down those super station seem to be
A - sit next to it, stay ahead of the axial gun, keep shooting it with plasma, when its shields go up spam missiles. A bit faster than B strategy.
B - Hit hard and run - save up missiles, get in fast, unload, get out, repeat. Better when station has heavy support, especially the aliens using kamikaze drones (havok + plasma almost useless vs those at Ultra+, but that almost is the difference between dying right there and escaping their range limit)

Where do I get the shield tech?

I think it got move to below the system with the sentinel station near the end of the main nexus branch. That would be -15 x -29. But I'm not sure exactly, it seems to be different. It shows the map to a system that doesn't appear on your map at first, you'll need 25(?) neutronium too.

From what I've seen, the location of the Shield Tech in the current version seems to vary quite a bit, but it does seem to always be in the main section of Nexuses.
Also, you need 75 Adamantine to get it, however the Adamantine does not get used.
(this is most likely a glitch, since the dialogue indicates it should be used)
