Game guides and newbie help with resource depletion problem.
Hello there,

I was wondering if there are any game guiges or wikis yet. Google says there is this https://starcom-flashgame.fandom.com/wiki/Starcom_Wiki but it's not very helpful at the moment.

I have played the 0.10 version, explored all the 40 star systems and got stuck with the progress. The first enemy race is very easy to kill but all others are OP for me and I have pretty much exhausted all sources of income it seems so I cannot upgrade any more. Is there any way to get research points and resources other than exploring planets? Enemies drop small amount of resources but the quantities are very low. Same for shooting asteroids - would take a very long time grinding them to get anywhere.

If this situation is because it is early access then no problem. Still would be great to have some passive income possibility like upgrading Kite station with mining facilities...

New 0.12 version brings a whole lot more planets to explore, and a difficulty slider to make ennemies less daunting if that's your main problem.

That would surely help but if we want a sandbox experience there has to be a stable and non-daunting source of research points and resources.

v 0.12 hopefully moves the needle in the direction you're looking for. Several new sources of RP have been added including more possible discovery drops and a new recurring artifact type.

But the game is still evolving in terms of balance.

Go kill some asteroids :)
Entarq's Citadel has plenty and they respawn. Your typical haul will be basic res like titanium or gold, but on occasions you can get neutronium or even science.
There is a jump node nearby to quickly go back home, too.

True that but they could use a higher drop chance.

Destroying progent ship wreckage is a higher source of resources and can regularly get Neutronium and Adamantine from them. There are a few locations where you can find wreckage sites, but the closest and most easily accessible one is near the "singing star" (purchase story from fish/squid race). If you do go there, mind the minefield, as the mines can destroy you easily. But for access to extremely useful resources in the early/mid-game this risk is understandable.

Well, this game is story-oriented, maybe what you're looking for is another game. Though I've read that a "sandbox" universe will be developped for those who are done with the story.

The only game that is similar to what radix_s wants, and what originally attracted me to Starcom is Space Pirates and Zombies (1).

The only resource you need to manage wisely is your research

otherwise you can always farm asteroids or enemy ships for more stuff

the bonus of taking down rocks for resources is you also get a lot of research from it

That is absolutely true. Data is extremely stingy at the moment, so choose carefully what you really want to invest in. Specializations are better than having only a couple points in several systems.

You can get data from blowing up ships, asteroids and ship debris. It is random though and very finite; ie only like three data things from Chitik.

Hmmm I am on verison 0.12 and it seems there is only like 47 of star systems... I have not finished up the main quest line (stuck again in the Kite station upgrade after meeting Sentinels step). Is it the way it should be? I thought there were supposed to be more systems in this version?

You're on the right track.
Focus on the station upgrade and all will be revealed! "wavy hands, wavy hands"
