Bird race
i have yet to land on the bird planet, they keep shooting at the lander. last two times i played through i thought it was because i fought with them.....did not want to pay the toll..... so, did i miss something? or, are they just a disposable race?

The planet you're being driven off from is their provisional capital. If you talk to them they'll mention that they lost contact with their homeworld and- because they're kinda Lawful Stupid- they can't open official relations with you until they get permission from their homeworld. Which means never, unless someone finds it.

You can find their homeworld for them by finding several of the survey markers they sent out, and using them to triangulate their source point. Pay attention to the names they give the surveyed planets.

The other thing that helps here, is doing some very rough math and converting what they call Lir (their distance metric) to AU or Astral Units (player/Starcom distance metric). Find one of their systems where it gives you both the distance from the star name, and distance from Nest Whirlpool. When in map mode, in the upper left corner it always shows you your cursor's distance from where your current position is.. so figure out what 1.0 Lir equals.. you then have rough estimate of that star's distance from where their wormhole is. Triangulate with some others, and boom you can find the general area of where to search [/spoilers]

If you accidentally bump into one of the home-world ships, it will prevent you from landing on the home-world as well. It sucks, I know. Fortunately, you do not have to land on them to complete the game.

thx . i'm having a ball killing them all. i should have went down to their area when my ship was but 16 piece's. i took out a couple of those sent. star bases with that ship ( no shields, just a little armor and a few plasma turrent's). i could not remember the name's or the color of two stars for landing on nest world so, chicken wings for everyone! lol

ok, who want's plasma baked or, laser seared? we'll use the rail guns to tenderize the meat first lol!
