All Quiet in the Trenches

All Quiet in the Trenches

Interesting
I'm interested in the game as Youtube dropped a gameplay for me to see. Well, from what I've seen, this game is similar to Valiant Hearts in that it is more about the human element of the war, rather than actual warfare. Management, not tactics or strategy.

I don't know if it was the gameplay that I watched, but that is the feeling that I got. There is no actual combat, you navigate a small squad around and make a few decisions both during fighting and quiet moments. Not to mention that the actual fighting seemed toned down and safe compared to most depictions of trench warfare.

Does that sound right?

And, by the way, I don't mean this as a negative.

You are correct that it is more about the human element. Your main focus is managing your relationship with your assigned men and your relationship with the LT. There is not much tactical strategy involved. On the battlefield, you are given limited options on how and where you can move. Your analysis from watching YouTube is spot on. If you like managing relationships, this is a good game to try. I am enjoying it and do not regret my purchase, but I like management-type games. My one complaint so far is that I'm just a point-and-click leader. I only direct the men, and I am not armed. I cannot help give even a minor suppression fire. I do not know much about WW1 so that may actually be a historical depiction in the game. If that is not your type of game, this might be one to skip or to wait until after release and then on one of the Steam sales to get at a reduced price.
Thank you for your answer.
