Are these official first party controllers? When using official xbone/series or ps4/5 controllers I haven't experienced any weirdness, but I have a lot of controllers and when I've tested some third party (or "off brand") xbox controllers the joysticks have had bad behavior where it seems like the precision is a lot less than the official controllers, even though the steam input controller test shows the joysticks response being perfectly fine. But it seems session reads the controllers differently than the steam input which doesn't even make sense.
Even with the £200 nacon controler, it would still be inconsistent.
You're touching with the thumbs the limit of their sim. Sometimes it's working tho
Do you play with both Controllers plugged in at the same time? If so, this can cause issues with many Games. I always have to unplug my Rudders, Yoke, HOTAS, and even TrackIR and Tobii in some cases as the inputs don't behave the same.
But yes, on the first problem, I do get weird input differences with Scoops mainly, not so much Flip tricks.
I've also had issues with the 8bitdo where prepping for ollies/nollies will register as manuals even though the stick is firmly pulled all the way down. I was able to replicate pretty reliably by popping a trick to manual, popping out, and then setting up for another trick which would register as a manual every time. If I didn't do the trick to manual first, it wouldn't do it. It also happened reliably on the Daewon Song rock mission where every time I would set up for the half cab after pressure flip, it would go to a nose manual until I shut the game down and restarted.
I don't have controller issues with any other game I've played on Steam. If there's some fix or workaround, google wasn't showing it to me. I gotta say, its pretty frustrating having these kinds of controller bugs for a game that requires extremely precise controller inputs
