Reduce falling over
Cool game, but is there a way to stop the skater falling over every time they literally touch an object. Its really kills the flow of the gameplay experience. Would be way better if you could hit objects and just stall or rebound off them. Im a skater, every time I touch a curb or fail a kickflip I dont flop to the ground like a ragdoll!

You realize that Session is in Early Access? The full version will have a sniper in it shooting at you every time you lose control of the board to make the drop dead animation look more plausible.

Very much realise this, just flagging it as a must have improvement

And in the meantime, the option to have an ability to just turn off collision based stacks altogether would be a good compromise which would really help the gameplay, particularly for beginners.

+1 Agree

I agree with you. It is awkward to see your skater droping dead every time he just barely touches anything. The best case scerario would be a physics based stumble animation every time the board gets stuck. In addition it would be great to see the skater using his hands to keep his body and board away from walls. On the other hand I can imagine that the implementation of such mechanics are pretty difficult. At least if they are done well.

Whatever it is, at least it the early stages, it needs to be an extremely fast reset, so as to not kill the flow of the gameplay

I normally tap the on-foot button when I bail, usually resets me much faster than waiting for the ragdoll to finish. You can also use the reset button while bailing to go back to the start of your run without waiting for it to finish.

What is the reset button?

Y/Triangle/topmost face button

To be more accurate, the reset button is up on the d-pad. y/triangle/etc is the 'get off/on your board' button, but yes it works as well if not better during a bail.

It might be more intuitive if the way to skip a bail would be pressing one of the push buttons or something - like "yes I get it, I failed, can I skate now?"

Slow bails aren't something to sit through in a game without a hall of meat mechanic.
Agreed in a major way. Everything shouldn't pitch you to the ground like you are bombing a hill and hit a rock.

It's weird that there are collision and hit-boxes present when the skater is on the board.... but there aren't any when the skater is off the board. And the ragdoll doesn't exist and there are actual (somewhat unpolished) collision animations for walking (i.e. jumping over objects).
So the avatar can 'see' the changes in terrain while walking but can't so much when skating because the physics of the environment isn't linked to the body but they're linked to the board.
MY GUESS is that the board is linked to the environmental physics and not the physics of the avatar when skating. You can test this by 'clothes-lining' your character on a object.

Necro, this will never be addressed.
