What is this games obsession with manuals?

They're a super lame looking trick, a pain to do w the games controls, and i stg half the story quests require you to do them for a super specific amount of time in the worst possible spots

way to miss the point entirely. The zone differentiating the manuals and crouching down are way too close. and the issue wasnt that manuals are hard, its that i want to grind down rails and jump stairs, not manual across 3 pads. I just feel like alot of the early missions have you manualing over spots that would arguably be cooler if you kickflipped into a boardslide on them or something. Thankfully the story is optional af and not forced on you, and it does get better after that weird chain of early missions

Try a different controller if you are struggling with manuals. I have an old Xbox pad which is terrible for this game compared to the steam deck or even an old PS4 controller.

Yeah i use a beatup old 360 wired controller might be why

it's like a different game when you get it sorted, manual revert manual etc, you can get really technical.

Hmm. Might actually be a hardware issue. I'm using the Xbox elite series 2 pad and manuals work fine for me even though I generally suck. For example, I can easily enter a manual, then adjust the wheel height, so basically keep wheels just a bit off the ground to a lot, and finally, if I push the stick to the end I enter the ollie stance. You don't even need to stop the manual to jump. You can smoothly transition from a manual into a jump if you time it right.

Ask your gamer buddies if you could try their pad or just get yourself a new one with good reputation.

Not all controllers are made the same and the sensitivity laking in adjustment makes doing them a PITA.
