its called an ollie one foot, only people who have never skated and only played THPS call it an ollie north cause thats what its called in that video game.

both terms are acceptable.
the term "ollie north" was in skateboarding long before THPS.
i and my skate crew called them "ollie north's" back in the late 80's early 90's after seeing the trick done on SK8 TV!

not really, yes ollie north was used but it was more of a joke. im from the US. one foot was the proper nomenclature among actual skaters who did them. you never hear "ollie north tail grab" do you? no, it's "one foot tail grab".
burn Feb 26, 2020 @ 7:02pm
so, i guess, you're the authority on trick nomenclature.

"joke" or not, it's still "proper and acceptable"

your original claim was that the term was used only by non skaters and THPS players....

you know that's objectively not true.

stop being so elitist and relax homie....

if someone says "ollie north" you know exactly what trick it is.

You do know Tony Hawk video games are made with the help of one the greatest skaters ever in history right?

i was exagerrating but bascially yes what I said is true. i am relaxed, you're the one getting uptight and bothered because someone is CORRECTING you who has knowledge.

do you know where "ollie north" comes from?

LMAO

you correcting "ME?"

dude, I'VE corrected YOU. and you admit it in the first post responding to me.

the only "knowledge" you have is your self important idea that one term is better than another term.

BOTH TERMS are as old as dirt in skateboarding.

this is not a case of someone calling a "varial kickflip" a "twisty curvy screw".

this is a case of "k grind" and "crooked"

should i post something stupid and show you the origins of "K-Grind"? lolol....

get over yourself man, admit defeat.

Lots of elitism in your posts there, bud. You and whoever else grew up in your skate scene aren't somehow the grand arbiters of trick nomenclature, and believe it or not, skating culture is pretty regional. You grew up calling them one-foots, lots of people grew up with ollie north. Some people call them k grinds, some call them pointer grinds. The only real difference is which people are big enough tools to use something as ridiculous as a trick name to gatekeep and call people fake skaters.

Tl;dr: it's 2020 bro, "only real skaters do ____" is played out and lame, and so are people who won't admit they made a mistake and misspoke.

Been skating just shy of 20 years now, a lot of my friends clown me for throwing ollie norths off stuff because its old school and kinda lame. Either way I pride myself in my norths and haven't heard a single person ever in my life in a game of skate go "Did you really just one foot ollie?"
its always "♥♥♥♥ you with your ollie north!" Every. Time.
JoshKillin Mar 12, 2020 @ 1:42pm
We always called it ollie north. If you call it "ollie one foot", how do you distinguish between an ollie north or a dog piss? Call it "ollie one foot front foot/back foot"?

That's just silly.

EDIT: I guess piss gets edited, think of the trick name as dog pee or dog urine, since the word piss is censored on the forums.
