How to grind
I have played for 4 hours now and I still have no idea how to grind in this game. Every time I think that the gind is going to work out, I fly off my board, is there anything Im missing?

Grinds are deff the most challenging part of the game IMO. Your trucks have to be square with the ledge, and you have to be lined up properly

Reading into the game, they say they trying to go for realism. you have to be PERFECT with your jumps and with each grind the timing of the jump and the angle will differ

i dont know if you are alread doing this, but besides lining up perfectly you also have to hold your sticks in the correct grind/slide position (look in the tricklist) during the whole grind. if you stop holding the sticks in grindposition before or during a grind you will bail out.

I found that fs crooked grinds are relatively easy to do because you dont have to jump perfectly into the grind what you would have to do with a 50.50 for example. You basically align your board with the front foot stick (change the stick angle depending on how far you are away from the ledge/rail)

Have you tried Skate 3? That might have what you're after.

Ya I'm about to download it again, since this game is too trash to offer different control schemes like most games, and sims.

FYI, right and left bumper to spin and turn your character, don't make the game any more realistic, it just makes it more annoying. See ya.

See ya, wouldn`t wanna be ya. For real tho, muscle memory is a ♥♥♥♥♥ and I was pressing Y (triangle) to grind and ♥♥♥♥. THPS while being half baked 24/7 has done a number on my brain. However, once the controls start to click, and actually make sense, it`s all good man.

I don't feel like anyone really answered this yet so I'm going to try as this sounds like a problem I was having when I started playing. My problem was I would do my ollie or fliptrick then hold the sticks in the grind position I wanted only to fall or bounce off every time. The trick was to do the ollie, let go of the sticks/reset them and then do your grind position and for me that was it, I've been grinding since. You cant do it all in one motion of the sticks, you have to actually reposition "your feet" so to speak with the sticks. Hope that helps. I think it's how the skate controls worked that I had to unlearn.

Yea, there's a feel you'll start to get over time. Then it starts coming down to knowing which foot is where if you start adding rotations. Another thing to keep in mind is the "pop height" of the various ollies/flip tricks. I'd say stick with normal speeds at first as well.

I was playing auto catch, now playing manual catch. And never going back, makes the game a bit harder, but more fun. :)

Try this, grind the guard rails in the parking lot at spawn. You pretty much have to do a ollie to get the pop height, and do various grinds/nose/tail slides. Then put down some grind boxes, and try various flip tricks into grinds. It's good practice.

Don't forget to refer to the move list in the game for the grinds/slides and the stick positions that do them.

Best thing I did to help learn. Literally printed off the trick list and have by my keyboard when I play.

Just for the record, I wreck alot still. So the game is hard.

game needs MP, then all of this can be worked on more proficiently. With everyone skating together, and people learning together.

Saying the game is hard is bulls***. There is no grind detection, so the game does not decipher between what you want to do. For me, I end up riding the rail like a normal ground level surface, or thrown off the board due to the collision. You can't intentionally grind in this game. You can only get lucky until they improve upon the games coding.

I did flip trick and the front end of the board dug into the ground and was thrown off.
