Poor Performance / Frame Rate Dips
I'm really bummed how this is running on my PC. Here's my specs:

Radeon RX480 (Latest Drivers 18.9.3)
AMD FX-8350
Windows 10 (Latest Update)
Installed on my SSD
Verified Integrity of Game Files

At 3840x2160 everything starts out at 60FPS until about the 1st save point and the frame rate drops to around 40FPS and then fluctualtes sub 60FPS. I dropped the resolution down to 2560x1440...same thing. I dropped it further down to 1920x1080...same thing.

Played around with all the graphics settings and couldn't improve the issue.

I could run the original at 60FPS with zero frame rate drops.

Maybe an issue for AMD users? Sigh. I'm going to shelve the game until a patch comes through. Not my usual great Klei experience. :steamfacepalm:

same card, same issue. lowering resolution doesnt have an effect.

Edit: reached outer ruins. the sandstorm puts me at 18 fps. unplayable.

Might be a problem specific to your GPU, I have a R380 and a worse CPU but don't have any problems. Maybe try the 18.11.1 driver.

Did you try the setting to preload the level?

I did select the preloading option. No luck.

Using rx 480 4gb here with 18.9.3, ryzen 2600 overclocked. 144 fps all time in 1080p.

I gave it another go with Klei's latest patch and I have 18.11.1 installed. Same thing. For kicks, I downloaded and replayed the original Mark of the Ninja and it's a solid 60FPS. Something in the remaster is causing the hiccup.

Sad.. I hope someone from Klei look to this problem.

I'm under the impression this needs optimisation on Win 10 + recent AMD cards and/or drivers.

I7-8700K, RX 580 8GB, Win 10 Pro, all up to date except the AMD driver (18.7.1) - Original and Remaster have been both unplayable on this PC, with stutters being more severe over time. The latest patch for Remaster improved a lot for me, now only sporadic slow-downs, but it's playable. I have to keep Displacement and Bloom off, else it still stutters. Tried all graphics combinations and several differently set profiles in AMD Settings to no avail.

They are also installed on a second PC with Win 7 Pro and Win 8.1 Pro and both run very smooth in either OS. This is an i5-4690K, R9 290 4GB. I checked on a third PC, also a 7/8.1 dual boot, i5-3570, HD7870 2GB... very smooth in both OS. These two PCs have various drivers for compatibility with other software, spanning from v14 to v17, still smooth with all of them.

Hi, a few years later and I played the remaster and I'm getting drops to 48fps with a nvidia rtx2080 :')

Somebody found a fix for these performance problems?

IIRC it was something really really stupid. Like when the steam friends menus is open the game lags or something.

The game runs great with no slowdowns on other systems like the Nintendo Switch.

I closed the entire steam overlay for the game but still. I can't imagine what causes these drops. It's definetly in the more open areas which are more demanding. In some indoor areas I can get 144fps+ in some outdoor areas in goes down to 45fps

Check your gpu/cpu usage during the slowdowns, willing to bet your system is not even being taxed, or possibly clocking down slower for a bit. I am currently running linux or I would try to remember what the fix was, the slowdowns do not happen on linux.

I tried running it in compatibility mode with win 7 and nothing.
But then I opened AMD software and turned off Free Sync and it worked :thekid:
