TREE PLANTERS and planting Need help
Ok, I admit it, i can not figure out how to make tree planters work. i place then near foresters. i have red coins, when i select one a blank bar appears in the lower right corner. Should this be a place to pick which tree to plant? i don't get it and nothing has ever appeared on my tree planters. i have the forester turned on, in one case i selected pears. do i maybe need pears in a barn somewhere? right now i think i am sending them all to the food market. HELP thanks

Tree Planters are like farm tiles - they don't grow anything on their own, but they allow you to place trees & crops in them via Build / Farming options.

Anytime a player 'feels dumb' means I failed to explain the concept sufficiently, so I appreciate the post!

It's great! But I'm thinking one red coin is quite pricey for a bit of wood.

Some of the foods sell for several reds each. If you get a setup of one of those going strong you'll have plenty of coins.

The options are all there in the Farming section for anyone to see. While you are partially correct, there's only so much you can excuse a player for. If they're not paying any attention, explaining it to them won't help.

Regarding the red coin mechanic i have to agree. A game like this needs some kind of challenge and that's primary figuring things out in that kind of game. Learning the hard way why your low on red coins and how the forester works is pretty satisfying

Also a small warning with tree planters. When you still have leftover pawns running around harvesting wood, they'll harvest it from the trees you planted, but they will never regrow, even if in range of a forestry.

True, although I tend to agree with rich about the red coins -- there are times when your workers run out of trees to chop, and half the time workers refuse to cut down trees planted in tree planters, they just move to that tree and do nothing.

Can get rather frustrating when you've just perfected your infrastructure and the natural resource it was built to harvest has run out. Self-sustainable industries would be nice, although perhaps that would make things *too* easy.

This was fixed in a recent patch. If they are still killing your trees, you might need to start a new game or pick up/move your forester for a minute and put it back.

Maybe they could dissolve once the tree is grown? As it presently is the planters can cause problems with harvest and changing terrain.

As a new player I found tree planters confusing only they're under the 'farming' branch of the game, so I was trying to plant them near to farms and then found they weren't being harvested or behaving in the same way as farm tiles. I think this sort of thing is something easily fixed with a couple of sentences in a tip once the game is receiving its final polish, so it's nothing major.

Wonderful game - can't stop playing it!
