need help building 'bridge' over walkway/chute
I'm starting to feel really dumb here, but I cant for the love of god figure out how to build a pathway over a chute (or a path or belt). Arches and bridges only snap to the ground and block the chute. They dont go on top of pillars nor snap to allready elevated pieces. I'm cluesless here... Any help is appreciated.

Here's the easiest way. Build a wood pillar scaffold on top of the chute you want to cross. Now build a wood arch on top of that. Items should be able to freely travel on the chute under what you just built. Now take a pathway or belt and drag it from the top of that wooden arch down to the ground. It will automatically build the supporting structures below it. Now do the same thing in the other direction. Your belts might be pointed in the wrong way, but at this point, you can lay them down correctly on your newly built bridge.

Thats what I've been trying, but I'm stuck at "build a wooden arch on top of the pillar". It just wont do that. If I try to place the arch it turns red and says 'occupied'

Ok I finally found the issue. Apparantly you need to work with newly crafted pillars and arches. Moving existing ones dont work. I was trying to move pillars because I misplaced some...

Bear in mind that when you destroy something, you get back the resources that it cost to make it. So when it comes to non-buildings, it's easier to select the item you want to build, right-click on the one you want to move (which deletes it) and then rebuild it in the correct location. That said, I'm not sure why it would give you a problem if you move it.

That method is good to know. I have always built the structures by hand. Slow and tedious but it's been getting the job done. /shrug. heh, some of my solutions are... um, interesting.

I did manage to find that the pathing will auto-fill supporting structures for a down-slope but it chokes hard on inclines.

One thing that I'd find handy is something that indicates the height above sea level for an item. e.g., if I've got an elevated wood arch and I'd like to connect it to that arch over there, is it the right height? Or if I want it to cross another path, how high do I need it to be?
