Speed of chutes vs conveyors
So I am trying to automate my farms -> mills -> pastures and I am finding it's extremely hard because of how slow the grain moves on chutes. I am pretty sure conveyors are going to be even slower but does anyone know for sure if grain moves faster on chutes or conveyors?

Also, maybe I am just setting up my chain wrong. Here's a look at my current setup:

I don't even have max workers in my farms (only 6 a piece) and the grain won't transport fast enough to the mills to keep up with the animal feed demands.

When you get belts and logic gates researched... ive found using two outputs (via grabber) from the farm to grain mill to be fast enough.
The cotton conveyors are definitely slower than chutes. If your grain goes downhill or down a straight line on a chute, the speed increases even further. Keep in mind that you can have another chute about 2-3 blocks above the first one and have a grabber pull the grain out of the farm's roof, so you can have a multi-story chute network for even more throughput.

valid items move much faster on chutes then cloth conveyors (which are the starting conveyors) but chutes are also less reliable in terms of where you want items to go.

They may have a better answer then myself.

Also, you get to build faster conveyor belts over time.

Some building force you to require conveyer.

Is the grain building up in the farm, because it isn't getting out as fast as it is harvested, or is it building up in the mill, or is it building up in your barn where you've added a bottleneck?

Looks like you need two barns, one for each farm. I'd probably have independent chutes for each farm and grabbers from one barn though. I built a huge grain farm with 3 supporting farms on 3 sides and they all needed their own chutes.

You could do it with one barn if you used multiple grabbers out of it.
