How to destroy buildings?
I can destroy blocks, but this doesn't seem to remove placed buildings. Is there a way to do that?

Select the building, then hit Delete. I know the block vs. building destruction process is different and inconsistent, which is not great - but i wanted blocks to be very easily deletable and buildings harder to do so to prevent mistakes...might have to think about this more though.

Got it. I think your process there might be fine, but it wasn't obvious on how to do. I looked in the keybindings, but perhaps I just missed it there. Perhaps if there was an icon for deleting buildings in the lower left? Unless that is being saved for "commonly used commands" or something.

I have a panel on far-right that shows commands for the current input context - is it disabled via preferences, or not visible enough?

You are right, it does display there. Just user error on my part it seems.

Well, any time there's a user error it means there's likely a way I can help prevent it : )

A bunch of users have actually missed this window, I should make it bigger and/or add some animation to it.

please don't make it flash or make the ui bigger. my suggestion would be to add it as a keybind in the options (if it is not already there) so users can find it and second add it to the tutorial. ie, add a building then delete it. that will also give you the opportunity to give context to a deletion. ie, describe in the tutorial window what happens to the resource cost of a building (is it refunded in full, you get half back, you get nothing?) as well as describing what happens when a container building (barn or factory building) is deleted. what happens to the contents? vaporizes? goes into base if space available? something else? cheers!

That sounds like a good way forward. Keeps the screen "clean", but educates the player on the functionality.

Yup, DELETE being referred to in the tutorial would probably be the best solution. Non-invasive, unlike a flashing/animation, or larger box to the right.
