So I think the actual "each slot has its filter" is a better option.
If you want more than one item off a barn to specific places, a rail with railcart could be a better option, as later on you could have a lot of different things to transport and multiple filters couldn't cope up with the incresing complexity whereas you just need to add a some railcarts with the appropriate filter to adapt to new demands.
As for using the rail carts. I tried that and they won't take the clothing for some reason. And they would also take all clothing including the cloth they are made from if they could take any.
I thought I seen a list of what each cart and shoot and convaier would take. But I can not find it now. If you know where I can find it. I would be great full.
It would just be nice to pick and choose more then one Item if they want.. Then everyone can choose what they like.
If the cart has a filter, then it will only take this kind of item.
Could you put a screenshot (or better, a video) of the problem ? Because I'm not sure I understand what is really happening to you.
As for taking a picture or a video I have not learned how to do that. ???? I was looking the other day.. How do you take a picture?
Just to let you know..LOLL
For the screenshots, you press F12 (one of the buttons on the top of your keyboard) and Steam will create a screenshot.
When you close the game, Steam will propose you to save your screenshot or delete it.
Then after that you can go into your "content" tab from your profile, click on the screenshot, right click on it copy the image adress and copy/paste it in any discussion forum.
To record my desktop, I use the built-in recorder from my graphic card (NVIDIA). If you use a geforce video card, you just have to press ALT-Z in any game, then chose to record your desktop. You can also just press ALF-F9 and if you already enabled geforce experience before, it will start recording the desktop.
If you don't have it, you can use debut capture video (I made a tutorial a long time ago... Sorry for the very bad quality of the video, I was debuting in video editing) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqR84qLFyO4
But you also have VLC that can help you record your screen. But since the geforce experience is so easy to use, I didn't even looked at any other screen recorder.
My F keys don't seem to do what people say they should. They do what the picture on them say they do. increase volume, Lighten and darken. F-12 starts a program to run a check on my computer. I will try it in game and see what it dose them.
For rail carts, you can also set item filters for each rail cart. Its best to have 1 cart per item type, and set the item filter to that item. Example: one cart is set to shirts, and another is set to cloth, and another set to planks. The problem is, if you don't set an item filter, every cart will always pick the first "train stop" that it comes to, and since it can't mix stuff, that is all it ever picks up.
TL;DR use item filters in the mine carts.
For logistics, you can use grabbers (with item filters) to grab items out of buildings/barns. You can use these instead of the normal outputs. Example: Pears and apples in a barn. One belt comes out of the side of the barn, and has a grabber on it set for apples, so only apples get grabbed. Then another grabber on another belt set for pears. Works well. ignore the normal building output.
One more thing about mine carts; I find it best to use a silo to load mine carts. So you would have:
Workshop => belt => silo =>train stop. The silo will act as a buffer, and help throughput.
Also be careful that you have a train stop. Its very easy to miss, and the building's / silo's arrow look just like the train stop.
I am making a group of stuff in the same kitchen and it would be nice if they all did not need there own rail cart or grabber to take them ware they need to go. If I could have one cart pick up everything in the building and drop it off to the general store it would look so much cleaner and save time. it is a simple option that would be useful. And would give everyone a choice to pick one item or five items on the list. If when you choose more then one item they would all load in the one cart every time it gooses buy.
But i think I can make it work with the rail and carts better then belts. To many belts out of one building takes up to much space. But if you make a rail track that is continuous not just back and forth. I could put several carts on the same rail. Both tracks can run side by side and just loop at the ends to save space. I have tried this and it seems to work ok.
Thanks for the info
I am sure this new computer has a way I have just not learned it yet...
So I just set a barn as such:
1. Fire crystals
2. Fire crystals
3. Fire crystals
4. Mana crystals
You click on the items for the barn, and set each filter. Its a bit tedious, but works.
Thanks again for the info
This will help.
What I do : several barns that are connected to the rails, several carts that pick a particuliar thing and each workshop/kitchen/etc. delivers its content to the barn connected to the rails.
