Sadly it can cause alot of problems if you have more rail carts on same way.
In my current town i have lines where alot rail carts are full all the time while some of them travel with just few items.
If the one that have few items will stop for like a minute to be full it will block all other rail carts that are full all the time.
Anyway having that as option will be nice for rails that have 1 rail cart.
I must say i never used pushers etc. because i didn't need to do it yet. Maybe in future but right now my simple rails works perfect in my 3rd town. Anyway i will read post later :)
About the topic.
Alot people don't need to use them or will never reach endgame to be forced to use them.
That's why i explained what problems can happen if one cart will wait to be full and block all other carts.
Anyway i said too it can be as an option to toggle so people who use one rail car on rails will be able to use it. If it will be an option to toggle on/off everyone will be happy
Thats not that hard to do! Just be a bit crative with your tracks.
doing a quick screen for you;
bottom setup is for early game, that one cart fills at forestry (or storage with lumber jacks) and fillst the silo at the mill first, THEN passes the Barn (inventory filter to lumber!)
Upper setup is if you have alread those blue logic blocks:
you have 3 carts waiting at the forestry and they only start if fully loaded
at least 3-4 of all those minecarts on that track have to be set to filter logs.
the filter at the forestry set to logs lets only carts pass to the station that have the filter on logs, all others get pushed up becasue its the only valid path for them.
the pushers (set to logs) at the mill and the barn push unly carts up that have a filter on logs (or have logs in them. all other just go straigh on.
once one of the stations is filled with 3 carts, all others just circle around till they find a free station.
The math blocks to make the carts wait for fulload/unload are set as this:
Inventory sensor has offset (yellow arrow) onto the trainstation. Then has a blue connection (done with rightclick) onto the math block. the math block is set to either (<20) for load or (!=20) ((not equal to zero)) for unload. now another blue connection from the math block to the blocker... DONE!
PS: i messed up the trainstations in both setups, lol. mill and barn need a unload station, not a load station ^^
it could work with a similar setup. you just may need to use fences or other "blockers" to force your waggons onto certain pathes to wait at a certain load/unload. idk if train stations would work there as "detectors" (you can put them on the ground without rails!) needs to be tested. but could be an idea to get stuff moving in your scenario.
PS: in mid/lategame you have atm no oter chance than using carts on magic rails. with higher happyness your production lines start to poop out products with insane speed. wagons cant handle the logistics any more. but... you will see it yourself ^^
EXAMPLE: A milk farm on "normal" speed gives out 1 milk/2sec. With a happyness of 1000 in your city this speeds up to 10 milk/2 sec even magic belts cant handle this already. now.... you have to feed the cows, too which want 2x food every 2 seconds. results in 20 food /2 sec to feed a single milk farm running on steroids. aaand... all bonusses like steam or mana dont even apply yet......
so at the moment (hence no omni pipes implemented yet) you end most likely up with something like this:
Its ugly as F*** but.... works
And in the end... if you build fences around all your waggon pathes you did build nothing else than a low throughput impromptu waggon-rail-track.... right?
