Free roam takes me back to the campaign

First I have to say I love this game. The concept of KURSK is different from any game I have played before. I just finished the game and unlocked the "Free Roam" option, but when I click on it it just takes me back to my last checkpoint in the campaign.

I have the same problem, when I enter free roam it takes me to the last checkpoint before finding the survivors in compartment 9

Yes, I got this the first time (swam out the hole), but when it put me back, I chose the "stay in the compartment (and die, obviously) path" option. Then, I selected "continue" and it put me back near the beginning of the game (when you're about to dive). From the main menu I could then select "free roam". Hope that helps!
