I agree, it was not the hunger as why she let go, the girl paused as she held his hand, giving him sense of false security and she looks into his face, long pause. Then let's go of his hand, as she stands up and watches him fall, and she walks of confidently after betraying him. um what!?
Why would she walk off confidently if she felt regret lol? Just like in the first game, where she kills the lady, She doing the same confident walk after betraying mono.
Their was no regret in her actions, people saying she hungry are trying to still see her in good light.
This game is titled little nightmares
Six is the little nightmare. (she little and causes the other kids a nightmare, run away kid, got killed by her, mono got betrayed by her and had to suffer. and probably any other kid in future game.
As for the ending secret, probably something on the maw she needs, as why it's hinting she might go back to it. though if it's time loop paradox, there was also other version mono/older thin man dead in the maw, which looks like he killed himself. (he hanging over the same chair mono sat on, hinting this other version of mono is dead in the maw)
meaning she can't undo the curse/side effect of his powers after betraying him. though this points to loop, paradox if true.
