Chess rook top missing

I have restarted the chapter several times now but the top part of the rook don't spawn during the school level at the top of the staircase...

After trying everything from restarting the game and restarting the chapter to respawning and switching between the normal and enhanced versions, I solved it by using the WeMod trainer for Little Nightmares II to float up to the door handle, and I was able to complete the chess puzzle normally. They must attend to a game-breaking bug!

I don't think this is a bug, it seems like there may have been a minor issue with your install. I just played the game for the first time a week ago and i didn't encounter any missing puzzle piece bugs, nor have I seen this issue reported by anyone else in the 2 years the game has been out. I would try uninstalling/reinstalling to determine if this is a recurring issue.

It is in fact a problem, has been for a very long time now, and has not been fixed. I had the same problem on day one when the game was released, and I thought it would get fixed, but now years later, it is still there, and I hoped to find a solution to it. But apparently there is none other than modding the game.

That sucks. Try grabbing at the spot it normally would sit. I've seen objects go invisible, like a ball once, and I could pick it up. I didn't encounter the chest piece issue on my playthrough on enhanced edition. However, I did run into an problem when you need to turn off a TV to get the person to move away from it. The remote control did not work on the TV but it did on the one outside the apartment on the roof. No matter how close you get and spam the remote, wouldn't shut off. Luckily for me I could reload the check point from the main menu to fix it as re-spawning alone did not.

You can try using the WeMod trainer for the game and bypass it like I did in my post above.
